Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Puncture Resistant Tubular Tyres

Does anyone have any recommendations for a fast yet reasonably puncture resistant tubular tyre?

I was looking at the Continental Supersonic but according to various reviews they are very prone to punctures.

I would need this for a 90k cycle as part of a half ironman triathlon so basically ones suited for a long time trial on poorish country roads.

    Thanks.

Looking at [url+http://www.shinybikes.com/bikes/veloflex-roubaix-tubular.html]these[/url] myself, might be the halfway house between the Contis and full on Vitt Pavé.

I have these on my racing wheels (Mavic Ksyrium SL). excellent road holding & used a lot in the PRO circuit however not cheap best online price I could find was €60. They can go up to €85 in a number of well know Irish bike shops.

I used Continental Ultra Gatorskins at Gael Force West last year and have been using them since. Done about 1000 miles on them now and they're bulletproof.

I have the Conti Competitions, probably around 1,000km on them racing and going to/from races now with no punctures yet. Just as well as I would be fecked if I did puncture. These were used by Columbia HTC so if they are good enough for them they are good enough for me.

Yeah, I never thought I would spend €120 on two bike tyres

They are said to be 'the best'

OP specifically wants puncture resistance which despite their other excellent qualities the Vittorias are not renowned for.

    Blorg,

Are the Conti Competition Tubs foldable tyres so I can fold and attach them to the saddle tube or under the saddle?

And I see on Wiggle they are EUR 65.48 - is that the cheapest price you can get these at?

Point being Vittoria CX Clinchers, you can fix the puncture. These are my race tyres, not punctured yet.

Yes they are foldable, but all tubs are foldable as they don't have a bead (at least this is my understanding.) I got mine from PBK but same price. I will sell you one unused in box for €55 if you like, I don't think I will be racing on tubs for some time and I have deep section clinchers as a backup.

@jdt101- I don't think it is reasonable to suggest someone change his wheels when he is asking about what tyre to chose. Bit of an investment that.
