My First SLR

i've been using my housemates Canon X1000d the last few months and think its brilliant. He's going away now though so im going to splash out and get one myself. (unless anyone thinks there's a better SLR i should get for the same price)

A decent camera, many a person here has owned one. One thing though, it doesn't seem to mention how long a warranty you get with the camera. That would concern me.

I'd recommend getting a 400D/450D/500D Even if you have to get it used, its a lot better value for money, (you'd get used to the 1000D far too quickly)

yeah i noticed that but it does say "Factory Sealed Box w/ Canon Warranty" and i think Canon's warranty is 1 year if that applies to a refurb too...

was just looking at the 500d, very nice specs on it, an extra 200euro though...hmmmmm :cool:

This is the American Rebel XS model. Canon Europe won't entertain any warranty
claims for it.
