Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Im surprised Uruguay got so far with a dodgy keeper

    Go on Mueller!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,398 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Pffft Mueller...if he was decent he would be on the Golden Ball shortlist.

Would have liked to have seen Schweinsteiger get it.

    So topscorers like this now

    5 - Snjeider, Villa, Mueller
    4 - Forlan, Klose

God I'd hate to be commentating on this match on my own. So much time to fill with complete nonsense

Tyldesley did a good job on his own for the Netherlands/Uruguay semi, and the older generation of commentators were used to doing that most weeks for Match of the Day and other programmes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,398 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

    FFS Schweinsteiger.

    Fantastic break by Uruguay, beautiful.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,068 ✭✭✭Bodhisopha

Muller continues to make Giles and Dunphy look like complete morons!

    Nice goal Uruguay.

Gotta love a good counter attack

    Diego Perez is quality

1-1. Far from boring thus far!

Good break and a tidy finish

    Nice goal after uncharacteristic mistake

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

    Gotta love these 3rd/4th matches!

Why do so many people moan about them every four years?

    Excellent match so far

I'm sure those commentators had a far better knowledge of the game than todays do.

Don't want to knock the chap but all Alkin has done is list off a load of facts. Interesting alright but offers nothing to the game itself. His description of Muller's goal was that it was a great goal, great follow up by Muller and nothing else

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,590 ✭✭✭jaykay74

would hate to see the top scorer for the WC to emerge from this match. more worthy award if it was goals are scored in a proper competitive match

not knocking the game as a spectacle btw, its entertaining.

I usually find the co-commentators to be more ignorant about today's players and the world game in general, esp. on British/Irish broadcasters.

Would prefer to hear more solo commentaries at the big tournaments.

EDIT: listening to Drury/Burley on ITV for this anyway!

Was it Schweinsteiger getting booed?

    This is a competitive match.

    They're playing for bronze.

    It was Suarez getting booed.

Hopefully the rain brings a few lunges.

It is still competitive enough, Id rather go home with a medal than without.

At least Muller's goal was his, unlike Sneijder's supposed equaliser against Brazil.

Was it not going to go in anyways? I know the dubious goals panel in England would have gave it to him, normally a deflection isn't taken into account unless it alters the course of the ball into the net.

I don't mind him having it.

Really enjoying this game so far. Both teams seem to be really up for it.

Hope I'm wrong but it could turn out to be better than tomorrow's final.

Haha that impression of Eamo was brilliant. Don't stuff the bookies, stuff your face.

Cracking goals, Craig Burley is a pretty decent co-commentator I reckon. Yet again the pitch is a disgrace. Still I guess it was never going to get any better.

Seeing the slow motions on that tackle is horrible, seeing his leg flex like that, lucky it isn't broke,

Don't know how with the ref looking right at it that it wasn't a red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,567 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Great stuff from Apres Match......loved the 'Arrow pointing towards the goal bit'.
I don't know how they keep a straight face.

Schweinsteiger has said that Ballack is the captain as far as he is concerned - bitch slap for Lahm.

BANG!! pokemon-shaped area BILL. lmao :D
ah ITV played that clip earlier...

Also Stephen Alkin dubs Bastien Schweinsteiger 'Manager' in place of Philip Lahm :p

Ballack can't have much longer left in him anyway.
