Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How is Aperture (the software, not the camera bit)?

Hi! I finally bought a "proper" camera, a Canon EOS 500d. I can get a free license for Aperture and I'm wondering whether it would be considered a decent companion to the camera? Can I get good results from it? I also need decent library management features, but its time to move beyond iPhoto/Picasa. Photoshop is probably a little beyond my budget/attention span just for the moment.

    Cheers.

Lightroom generally gets slightly better reviews, but if you can get Aperture free than why not? Aperture is Mac only but I'm sure you know that.

I haven't used Aperture but I highly recommend Lightroom.

I tried both the trail of Aperture and Lightroom, but ended up going with Lightroom. I just found it easier to use and better for the way I work.

I have used both, and really only moved to LR because I have a mix of Mac and PC's. Given the choice, Aperture slightly edges it for me, but it's more personal preference rather than any killer features... it's a little like Nikon vs Canon imo :)

If you can get a free license to use Aperture, go for it!

Aperture doesn't seem brilliant to be honest... I prefer lightroom, But I'm gonna' stick with aperture for now :)

Both systems are very good. The features in Aperture 3 really improve the post processing capabilities and if you are only getting into DSLRs both will be fine. It really comes down to the UI. I tried both and got a better feel with Aperture in terms of how it did things. I was coming from iphoto

The other thing is aperture integrates with ilife and ipod/iphone better
