Have you checked to make sure your LAN connection is set to detect an IP address automatically?

Also try disabling and enabling the LAN connection. Sometimes it works.

You need to turn off the IP Flood detection on the router.
That will fix your torrent client/browsing issue.

how do I do that ?

how do I do that ?

You need to log into your modem.
Not sure if you've done so before so I'll lay it all out bellow.

Open up an internet browser page.
Type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and press return.
It'll ask you for a username and password, leave them blank and press ok (or "log on" if you're using Firefox).
A list will be going across the top of the page saying things like status/advanced/options/etc.
Click on the one that says Setup.
This will bring up a list for you on the left of the page.
Go down to Firewall and click on options just underneat.
Here you'll see the second box from the bottom will be ticked and it'll say IP Flood detection.
Untick that box and press apply.

That'll help with your browsing issue.
It stops all the bandwith going to the torrent client.

That's just asking if you want to put in a password, you don't have to.
Simply click on where it says "setup" on the top right and the list will appear on the left.

Ignore the new password current password part.

When it says current password and new password simply ignore it.
Unless you've changed already it it's simply asking you to change it.
Just click on setup and see if it brings the list up for you.
If it doesn't then the admin password has been changed, and unless you remember what it was changed too, you'll have to reset the router.

Ive ignored the password thing and the current password screen,

Ive never changed the password at all. I only have the modem 2 weeks

It will have been changed man.
UPC don't put an admin password on the modem so if there is one, it would have had to have been entered.

At this stage you're better just reseting the modem.
Hold down the "reboot emta" button on the back of the modem for about 10 seconds.
Your modem will take about 20 mins to come back on, but when it does go through the same procedure.
This time you'll be able to log on fine.

Are you getting the screen that says "new password" and "current password"?
If you are then that's where you're supposed to be.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 176 ✭✭ChuckNorrisgod

This is where you want to be.
Don't put anything into where it says "New Password" or "Current Passsword".
    Just ignore that.

There should be a heading list going across the top of the page.
    It'll say things like Status/Signal/Provisioning/etc.
Click on where it says "Setup".
This will bring up a list for you on the left.
You then go down to where it says "Firewall Settings" and click on "Options" underneat.

This will bring you to a page with a list of Firewall options.
Second from the bottom will say "IP flood Detection".
If that box is ticked, untick it, and then click apply underneat.

That's all you have to do.

got the list you were talking about.

now nothing is ticked at all.

expect for the last line Firewall Protection ticked :)

now I have nod32 virus guard and that comes with a firewall. so Im going too untick that box.
