How do you megger the windings of a motor to check if its faulty and what kind of resistance should the windings be.

Insulation resistance test between windings should pretty much be infinite, I think the minimum is 10 Megohms. Same with insulation resistance between windings and frame.

Importatnt to know which terminals represent each set of windings. Not easy to see sometimes if motor is old. Also you may have to remove the links in the terminal box which join the windings in either star or delta setup.

Test each aet od windings to see if they are open circuit.

Each set of windings should have same resistance

The insulation resistance should be pratically infinite as said already. Remove the star or delta links from the terminals and test with multi meter between u1-u2, v1-v2, w1-w2, they can be hard to see sometimes. You should notice they are not straight across from each other. For a 1kw delta motor i think the ohms should be roughly 200 - 250 ohms for each winding, maybe a bit lower, 2kw will be half this etc. Once you find all 3 windings are ok then meggar between all 6 terminals and motor frame. Then between 3 terminals on one side to check insulation between windings ( u1-v1, u1-w1, v1-w1).
    Thats about it.

Test your winding condition by testing these connections:

    T1 to T3
    T2 to T3
    T1 to T2
The reading should be between 0.3 to 2 ohms. If it is 0, there is a short. If it is over 2 ohms or infinite, there is an open.

You're not making much sense there tbh

Bit tardy with the response time too.
