Power surges

Just wondering is anyone experiencing power surges recently in the Portlaoise area?

I've been experiencing several in the last three weeks and am not sure if its just my house or if others are affected as well. Could be a problem with the electrics as the house is about 30 years old but just wanted to check.

At certain times, power disappears and the lights and TV will go out, but there's enough to keep a light on in another room, just not at full strength. Then it comes back full power again, and disappears and the cycle continues.

We've had a couple of power drops in the last two days (outside Stradbally) - the power fails for about half a second and then comes back on again as normal. It's not off for long enough to reset digital clocks, but still a bit annoying.

Contacted the ESB, and the problem was found to be neighbouring trees which hadn't been cut in a long time which were interfering with the power line enough to knock off the power in high winds.

All has been taken care of now with the trees having been cut, and further cutting in the area has been scheduled in the coming months.
