Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

heading off for the etape on friday. Currently running with schwalbe duranos, with a few cuts in each. Have an used pair of lithions at home. Anyone any experience/opinions on these. Have never used them.

I rode them for a few winters. Very puncture resistant but grip not the best especially in the wet.

Good luck with the Etape. I would go for top end clinchers for something like that; the likes of Schwalbe Ultremo, Continental GP4000S, Michelin Pro3. I have the Stelvios (predecessor to the Durano) and they are probably as good or better than the Lithions (haven't used them.) Of the three I mentioned Ultremo would be my favourite. The Michelin Pro3s are decent but a bit punctury. When doing the Marmotte there were stalls the day before selling these tyres at very reasonable prices (€27) including IIRC stalls from Conti and Michelin and someone else selling Ultremos. You may have similar with the Etape.

thanks. Will hang on until the etape so and see if I can pick up a set of ultremos. Used them before. Found them good but wore a little fast.

I think the Lithions are brutal - I had them before and found them awful in the wet - a nice dose of road rash was the result of a right-hander where the front end went on me on a dampish day with these tyres on. Also, I found them brutal to get on over the rim at first. For the etape I'd definitely say you should go for a top end tyre like the GP4000S.
