Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Players that require proprietary software

I've owned a SonicStage dependent Sony mp3 player for the last few years. I'm aware there are SS alternatives, but I resent the attempt at locking people in. Am considering buying a new player, and a primary concern is ease of management of the music on it.

All my music is well tagged and organised in artist -> album folders and sub-folders, so ideally I'd like to just copy folders on and off the player and have it read the directory tree, or parse through all files and read all the ID tags, whatever.

I struggled to find much info online, here or on Google... iPods apart, are most players these days independent of proprietary software? Can you use Windows Media Player's synchronisation, and/or Windows Explorer, to do the job?
