Safe way to get rid of greenfly?

Went to pick some rocket leaves for my dinner today and to my horror instead of a handful of leaves I was left with a handful of greenfly. GROSS! Went to pick some rocket leaves for my dinner today and to my horror instead of a handful of leaves I was left with a handful of greenfly. GROSS!

I grow all my plants indoors, so ladybirds, birds etc are no help to rid me of them, so I was just wondering does anybody have any natural ways to get rid of them?? I have showered off the plant, then sprayed it with washing up liquid and water along with the other plants regardless if they were visible on it or not.

Would putting crushed garlic around the base of the plant give off a strong enough smell to deter them??

I feel all creepy crawly now. BLEURGH.
