Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You might regret not extending the lead. By the sounds of it, you could have though, which is promising.

A win is a win, and that one goal might be the difference. Hopefully just a one goal advantage won't come back to haunt them.

A good European result for an Irish club.

What stage are they at if they get through?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,434 ✭✭✭Lamper.sffc

congrats to Bohs. Hopefully they will finish the job in the away leg. The clean sheet was very important and could make the difference between going through or not.

    Anyway best of luck

The most impressive thing for me last night was the standard of the officials.

Somethng we badly need in this country is some quality ref's

    Awsome hair cut too.

Hope Paddy doesn't end up regretting the stream of missed opportunites.

If they get through they go into the 3rd qualification round with the likes of (open to correction) Basel, Copenhagen, Red Bull Salzburg, Rosenborg etc...

If Bohs lose in the 3rd qual round they go into the Europa League Play-Off with the likes of Man City, Liverpool (if they get through) etc.

However, if Bohs win in the 3rd qual round they go into the 4th qual round, in which if they lose they go into the Europa League Group Stages.

Also, that was Paddy who crossed the ball for the goal, great ball in. Higgins, Keegan and Brennan had great games. If we score 1 over there they need to get 3 goals to get through and I can't see that happening.

Let's not get carried away - it was a satisfactory result. This is a side from one of the worst leagues in Europe we're talking about - anything less than a win would have been unacceptable.

Having said that, this side was decent, I'd say they would have no problem getting into the top half of the Premier Division over here, and they won their league by quite a large margin I think, only conceding 13 goals. Our midfield was far superior and I think that, along with the fitness of our players over TNS was the difference in the end (they were out on their feet with 15-20 mins to go, the only time they got the ball was from goal kicks).

Also, BohsTV1 have gotten Pat Fenlons reactions after the match, he also looks forward to Sligo on Friday and next weeks second leg.

    Interview: Andy Donlan

Edit: Here is the goal on the news

    Fast forward to 17:20

Winning to nil in Europe is always a great result. TNS would challenge for the league in Ireland and if they were match fit it would have been a far tougher game.

Keeping a clean sheet was the most important thing. If Bohs can score over there they should go through, as it's hard to imagine TNS getting 3. If I was a Bohs fan I'd be fairly confident of progressing.

EDIT: CiaranC beat me to it by a minute with this info. Links above anyway. Better than getting the score by text.

They (TNS) had a story on their website, but I think they have removed it since. Bit of a joke. Mindgames, maybe.

Sceptical also. The text looks like automatically generated Google bait. Clicking brings you to a registration page. Good luck, if anyone manages to make this work let us know...

Reminds me of listening to United games on Five Live. Or trying to listen.

Shits you up ten times more than watching as the goal always seems to shock you out of the blue. :D

Not able to get into that Radio Shropshire live...

    Bohs team in:

    Barry Murphy (G)
    Owen Heary (D)
    Ken Oman (D)
    Conor Powell (D)
    Brian Shelley (D)
    Killian Brennan (M)
    Jason Byrne (M)
    Ruadhri Higgins (M)
    Paul Keegan (M)
    Mark Quigley (M)
    Paddy Madden (F)

    Id say its

    Murph

    Shelley - Heary - Oman - Powell

    Brennan - Keego - Higgins - Quigley

    Paddy - Jayo

Jayo could drop into midfield if needed though.
