Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pathetic, absolutely pathetic. I KNOW Bohs are better than this. If they were being raped by Anderlecht, fair enough, but not this bloody Welsh mob! The players should be shot with sh!t.

From what we've heard in the media, teams seem put more of an emphasis on the league, rather than Europe.

Any chance there are a bunch of lads from Hong Kong on mobile phones in the stands tonight? It's the only way I can justify a performance like this.

This is going to hit Bohs hard financially I would imagine?

Welsh League 17 places below us in the rankings. Bohs should have had too much for them. I'm seriously worried about Thursday now: Israeli league is 13 places above us and the match will be played in hot conditions.

Yes, I'm getting in my excuses now. :(

Well they're down a minimum of 4 more games in Europe including two home ties with the possibility of drawing a fairly big team in the Europa League playoff round also gone.

Aye, but what did they budget for?

I can't blame them for thinking they'd clear this round, especially not when the saw the oppo. This could be very bad news for them.

All over, what a load of crap that was. Bohs should be ashamed...losing 4-0 to a Welsh side, its a new low for the League here. :(

Indeed - I think this could be the final nail in the 'full-time professional' coffin.

EDIT: Anyone any idea what kind of odds one would have received in a bookies for that kind of result?

All we can hope is that FC Koper find one more goal and put Dinamo Zagreb out. Take the heat off of Bohs.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_Saints#Merger_with_Oswestry_Town
During the 2005/06 close season, after newly crowned Champions League winners Liverpool were initially denied a place in the next season's competition, TNS offered to play a one-legged tie against the Reds for TNS's place in the first qualifying round.[2] After UEFA reached a compromise by which Liverpool were placed in the first qualifying round of the competition, TNS and Liverpool ended up drawn against one another anyway. The first leg was at Anfield, when Liverpool won 3–0 by a Steven Gerrard hat-trick, while in the second leg played at Wrexham, Gerrard scored two more after coming on as a substitute, to add to one by Djibril Cissé for another 3–0 TNS defeat. Although defeated the team drew praise from many quarters most notably the young Northern Irish goalkeeper Gerard Doherty, of whom Rafael Benítez said, "The goalkeeper saved a lot of goals and for me he was the best player in the two games".[3]

The New Saints 4-0 Bohemians (agg 4-1)
Craig Jones opens the scoring for The New Saints after just six minutes
Craig Jones opens the scoring for The New Saints after just six minutes

The New Saints advanced to a glamour third-qualifying round Champions League tie with Anderlecht after a historic 4-0 win over Bohemians at Park Hall.

The Irish champions arrived in Oswestry with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Dublin, but were blitzed in the first half by the Welsh Premier kings.

Craig Jones, Matty Williams and Chris Sharp all struck inside 20 minutes.

Williams' second on 73 minutes ensured the Saints advanced in Europe for the first time in their 11 attempts.

Williams was the star of the show, setting up Jones for the opener on six minutes with an excellent pass.

Good work by Steve Evans and Matthew Berkeley then made the first chance for Williams, who finished neatly.

Jones turned provider for Sharp to leave the visitors shattered after just 20 minutes.

Bohemians rallied after the break, Paul Keegan going close with two efforts.

But Scott Ruscoe's corner was headed on by Evans for Williams to round off a glory night for the home side.

The third qualifying round legs take place on 27 & 28 July and 3 & 4 August, with Belgian giants Anderlecht a mouth-watering proposition.

The New Saints midfielder Aaron Edwards:
"It's amazing, I can't believe it... we thoroughly deserve it and hope to go to Belgium, get a good reception and play well.

"We needed the early goal to set us up and we've taken all our chances.

"They had a couple of chances after the break, but our defence was brilliant, our keeper made some great saves.

"Everyone was fantastic, we were better than them and thoroughly deserved to go through."

The New Saints FC: Harrison, Danny Holmes, Chris Marriott, Baker, Evans, Ruscoe, Hogan, Sharp (Darlington 90), Matty Williams, Craig Jones, Berkeley (Wood 89).
Subs Not Used: Simon Williams, Tommy Holmes, Seargeant, McKenna, Edwards.

    Booked: Sharp.

Goals: Craig Jones 6, Matty Williams 14, Sharp 20, Matty Williams 73.

Bohemians: Barry Murphy, Heary, Powell (McGuinness 46), Oman, Keegan, Byrne (Greene 67), Brennan, Madden, Shelley, Quigley, Higgins (Cronin 46).
Subs Not Used: O'Connor, Rossiter, Burke, Dixon.

    Booked: Powell, McGuinness, Keegan.

Fingal put in a great performance against Maritimo, they were unlucky not toget a results and Rovers still have a decent chance of playing Juventus. Don't drag the rest of us down with Bohs.:P
