Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey folks,

It's probably been asked hundreds of times before, but I did a search and couldn't find any answers, so here goes I'm using WLM for the first time and have no problem downloading my emails, but I can't send any and get the following error message,

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
    Subject 'hi'
    Server: 'mail1.eircom.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
    Protocol: SMTP
    Port: 25
    Secure(SSL): No
    Socket Error: 10053

    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

P.s. my BB is with Vodafone and my email account with Eircom.

Apologies for double post but this also might help

    Google FTW

    http://broadbandsupport.eircom.net/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/&/?St=170&E=0000000000251314231&K=765&SXI=5&E=0000000000251314231&St=170&K=765&SXI=5&case=10346&branch=4

If not then check the eircom site for more help?

It could be something silly like the email settings are incorrect or your emails are too big or something stupid like that.

    Last resort, contact eircom.

Cheers Kaedan, thanks for your help, unfortunately I couldn't find the solution on those couple of sites, so in the end I phoned my BB provider (vodafone) and now have the solution, it was simply a case of changing the outgoing mail server settings from "mail1.eircom.net" to "mail.vodafone.ie".

    Thanks again.

Thanks for that too. Yesterday I was trying to sort out a friend with a similar socket error message, until your posts reminded me to ask the question about his service provider. He had switched from Eircom to BT Ireland (now Vodafone) and had forgotten about it. He had kept the old Eircom modem which had fooled me, until I read your posts and was prompted to cross-question him more closely. Putting "mail.iol.ie" as the outgoing server did the trick
