This is a bit of a miss matched one, and has been leaking around for a while, but the dates only surfaced over the weekend.

Bit tough, I'm mad for Stone Sour so I'll obviously go, but I've never liked Avenged Sevenfold....that said, their new drummer would make me watch. Wonder if there'll be any support act, or if Stone Sour is supporting AX7 (shudder). No Irish dates yet I'm afraid.

Hot on the heels of their incredible set at this year’s Download Festival, three-time Grammy nominees STONE SOUR are teaming up with Avenged Sevenfold for a major co-headline tour this winter.

STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor, who steps over from his ‘other job’ fronting Slipknot, is excited to be returning to the UK, stating; "This tour with Avenged Sevenfold is going to be great! We were looking for something different and exciting to do with our next UK tour and it just made perfect sense. The shows are going to be amazing and the fans are going to lose their minds. Here we ****ing GO!"

The Des Moines-based five-piece also release their third studio album, ‘Audio Secrecy’ on 6th September. The newie was recorded in Nashville during the Spring floods earlier this year, with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush) manning the boards. The album’s first single, ‘Mission Statement’ is available now from iTunes and all good online digital retailers.

The tour will be Avenged Sevenfold’s first UK tour since 2008 and guitarist Zacky Vengeance commented, “We will be returning to the UK this fall. You have been warned.” The band recently made ‘Nightmare’ from their new album of the same name, available on iTunes and it went straight to the top of the UK iTunes rock chart. The track has also notched up over 2.5 Million views on YouTube.

Tickets for this tour aren’t going to hang around, so get yours pronto to avoid disappointment. Full dates line up as follows. Credit card booking numbers in brackets.

Tickets go on sale at 9am this Friday 16th July 2010, priced at £27.50 regionally / £29.50 London (subject to booking fee) and are available at www.livenation.co.uk. Support is yet to be announced. Door times are * 5.30 p.m; ** 6 pm; and *** 6.30 pm.

Talking about their new album, Corey Taylor says “’Audio Secrecy’ is the summation of everything we want, everything we crave and everything we fight for”. “The dimensions go further than anything we've ever tried before. It's metal, rock, slow, soft, hard, fast, bitter, beautiful and most importantly, it's REAL. We're throwing caution out the damn window.”

The band (alongside Taylor are guitarists James Root and Josh Rand, bassist Shawn Economaki and drummer Roy Mayorga) are preparing for this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival in the US, but in the interim, their erstwhile frontman has found time this coming weekend to unveil a new Corey Taylor case at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The case will feature various coveralls and masks that Corey has worn onstage with Slipknot, alongside a few presentation plaques and photos from Corey’s personal collection. Corey will also perform two special shows; one with his Junk Beer Kidnap Band at the pool stage on Saturday and a second acoustic solo set on Sunday at the HRH’s club, Wasted Space.

The only one I've discovered so far is Newcastle in the UK, but obviously an Irish date is a must

Hey Crue - the UK Tour dates were on Blabbermouth this morning, think there were5-6 listed......no sign of an Irish date.....would have thought it would be worth their while playing here........would probably go to see Stone Sour again - but as with you wouldn't be too interested in AX7

or if Stone Sour is supporting AX7 (shudder).

I'd actually prefer ss on first. Get in, watch them, get out. Hopefully an irish date is announced.

Hopefully Stone Sour do a side gig in Dublin, now that would be awesome.

Manchester Academy 1 fits about 2,000 people. Not that small.

That's small for a Stone Sour/ax7 gig. Tix will fly out for it

Linkin Park are playing the Manchester Evening Arena the same night.

So guess that venue was taken.

They could probaly have fixed the dates otherwise though if they wanted..interesting!

That's extremely bad planning on the part of the promotors/

If the MEN was too big what's up wit the Apollo, capacity about 5,000 as far as i remember

actually, yeah the Apollo would be perfect.

anybody else find it weird we are all taking about Manchester venues? :)
What venue would you put the double headliner in in Dublin? I remember when Murderdolls & Stone Sour double headlined in the Village all those years ago

Yea i would have thought that if either band was touring on their own they would play the academy venues but with a Joint Tour i thought they would have taken a chance with a bigger venue , sure are'nt BFMV doing an arena tour at the end of the year.

If either come over here id say they will play the Olympia (although we seriously need a venue around 5000-7000 capacity but thats for another day)

What's the new convention centre's capacity, and can it take gigs?

Can Grand Canal theatre be used as a standing gig? As that's 2,000 seated, add another 1,000 for standing, making it 3x bigger than the Olympia

You on about Citywest??? if so thats closing down.

Yea GCT would be great but i think they are only using it as sit down gigs eg Ray Davies,Rodrigo Y Gabriela

no, that new Convention Centre on they quays, looks like a huge Can of Coke on it's side, they had the X-Factor there a few weeks back

I think BFMV have lost the plot with that Arena Tour......would be hugely surprised if it comes anywhere close to selling out.......

It would be the Olympia or nowhere I'd imagine.........far too small for the O2 (having said that around Christmas they were certainly putting on acts in there that would never ever sell it out........so you never know.....)
not sure about the layout of the new Convention Centre - there's another Convention centre down in the Point Village (don't know when it's due to open)

the main one though will be aimed at the same type of events as the Grand Canal Theatre, or so it says on the website......
    Concerts and theatre

The Auditorium at The CCD promises to be one of Dublin’s most exciting new entertainment venues, with a full theatrical stage, sound and lighting system plus tiered seating for 2,000. This is the perfect venue for concerts, theatrical performances, entertainment, TV productions, award ceremonies and other events.

That never happened, Murderdolls played the Point supporting Papa Roach in '02, and Stone Sour did their own headlining Village gig.

I'd luv the olympia for this, imagine if a7x headlined it'd be brill if all the SS fans left early haha

I remember Murderdolls supporting Papa Roach with Hell is for Heroes. But I thought they played with Stone Sour in the Village as well. Just checked it up online and it seems they did a co-headline tour in England and stone sour did a one off gig over here. I was always pissed off that I missed that gig actually.

What about Hall1 at the RDS that must be close to 5000, saw Slipknot there back '05 or '06 was a great gig and I really like the venue.

    This sounds good.

It would be the Olympia, everywhere else is too big.

I could see MCD booking this since they've had Avenged Sevenfold over a few times in the past. I don't know much about them but I figure any band with Mike Portnoy is worth seeing.

Is Portnoy going to be touring with them in Europe as well? If so, I wouldn't mind seeing him.

Yep, he'll be touring with them until the end of 2010 at least.

I remember Corey Taylor mentioned on the 2nd Stage at "Download Ireland" (excuse me, something in my throat) in 2006 that the gig was pathetically small. He asked everyone who managed to get into the tent to see Stone Sour play that day - they turned a lot of people away actually - whether they were there or not, they all roared with excitement, to which he responded "you couldn't have all been ****ing there...it was tiny!"

That information is also incorrect. I specifically remember they also played in Limerick too so it wasn't just a one off in Ireland...the same venue Dillinger Escape Plan played a few months afterwards. After that I never heard of a metal gig being booked in Limerick.

I couldn't go to either, thus is the curse of the L.C. (having said that others have fallen to that curse since so it's a fact of life - but I also missed Def Leppard over two nights in the Ambassador as well)

Brutal sound was the problem with this one. Shadow's Fall supported. For some reason that never sold out, they gave my friend 4 free tickets on 98FM or something the night before and he couldn't have been bothered going. Didn't tell me though...that's why I had to kill him. And I've lived with that secret until.....oh....

New Stone Sour track is up - this isn't Mission Statement

was outside the tent sittin on the grass chillin with some mates - the tent looked too packed and too damn hot.......I didn't mind just hearing them at that stage in the day.......wouldn't mind seeing them again......

as Crue said - sound is a big problem in the RDS Main Hall.........pity.......Helmet were also on that Slipnot bill and if it couldn't sell out 4,500 then I really couldn't see this lineup being big enough to do it......
the sound in the main hall is shocking.......always has been......

your secret is safe with us bro'
we've all had to bury some friends for that kind of stupid mistake ;)

Big fan of both bands myself. Seen Avenged Sevenfold a few times and they always put on a good show. Especially in the smaller venues. I missed Stone Sour when they where in Limerick about 7 or 8 years ago as i was out of the country. Was so sickned as all my mates met the whole band after and everything as they just stayed in the bar drinking with all the fans. Hopefully i'll get to see them this time around.

Apparntly the second london date went on sale friday afternoon

Only realized last night....went on this morning..and seems there isn't many tickets yet  (kept coming up unavailable/no tickets left..usually happens when there's hardly none left for an event and the last few are in the process of being held/bought)

    But got mine :D
