Clear wood finish

What would be the best 'brush on' clear wood finish for spalted beech and other similar woods. I use sanding sealer and beeswax but want to try out more finishes...thanks!:)

Sounds like you are looking for a finish for turned wood?

I use a couple of coats of rubbed on shellac and then a mix of 1/3 boiled linseed oil, 1/3 varnish (water based I think) and 1/3 spirits and then I rub that on too 4 or 5 coats. No brush marks and I always find finishing with a cloth easier than a brush.

Is this for turned pieces, is any food going to be in them, is it indoor or outdoor?

I used Tung Oil on my project - 4 coats - 1st coat mixed with 50% white spirits, 25% white spirits 2nd coat and last two coats undiluted - used a foam brush to apply and steel wool between coats. Really brought up the grain of the wood.
