So I thought this was worth sharing....we were nearly not let back into the country yesterday. The Aer Lingus site says you don't need identification for toddlers when travelling between Ireland and the UK so grand says us.

The passport inspection guy in Dublin airport on our way home disagreed. He said that while it's not Aer Lingus' policy to require identification, they do!!!!

Lucky for us we had her birth cert with us or we would have been scuppered.

birth cert is all you do need though. I went to Jersey with my 6 mth old a few years ago and had nothing with me, never asked to produce id for him.

Dublin immigration are getting a bit less lax than they used to be.

They used to never even bother looking at my son's passport.

Last time I came through a few weeks ago, (I'm an Irish passport holder btw) I got 21 questions, including personal ones.

Bring the birth cert and your own id. They may or may not check. I think it's more to ensure that it is your child that you are travelling with.
