Fair ball's to Shane showing he will fight anyone, Owen is well rounded and when fighting consistent 1 of, if not the best featherweight around, this will be a good test for shane to see where his abilities are at now, and in my opinion win or lose he deserves respect.

Respect to Shane for stepping up.
I do think it's a bit of a mismatch, can not see Roddy being troubled in any area. Only one way to find out for sure though ;)

Well I know Shane was fit and ready for his last fight but that got cancelled very close to fight day due to medical reasons for his opponent. So I'm hoping Owen hasn't planned any fights within close proximity to this one cause I can't wait to see it. Makes me look forward to the winter weather.

Roddy v Thomas - Can anyone tell me when was Owens last fight??? Last time I saw him he lost to Hugh Brady in Belfast and then I lost track of him (imo was one of Irelands finest fighters). Shanes last few fights I have been impressed by him and believe his game has definately improved;) Will be an interesting fight :)

i would actually say it would be good to know what rule sets you plan on using on the show before match making to save some serious drama!?

Rumble in Rush 5 will hopefully be adapting what i feel should become the agreed national rules of Ireland.. but thats a while away so it wont be a major stress to me right now..

I don't see things chancing before CC VII Paul. The new rules if agreed will take time to come in. I would like to change on 01/01/2011

This quote is taken from John Ferguson's facebook account

Irelands BIGGEST MMA brand CAGE CONTENDER is coming back to BELFAST... After a controversial decision in Dublin on July 24th a rematch has been ordered!!!! The venue this time is BELFAST. Home town hero Liam Shannon has vowed not to let the judges spoil his revenge this time round. Dubliner Cathal Pendred won't want to... loose his CAGE CONTENDER WELTERWEIGHT TITLE belt in Shannon's back yard!!

Could you clarify what made the decision controversial?

What forced you to the decision to order a rematch?

Controversial is probably the wrong word, it was super close and many fans (myself one of them) would like to see a definitive winner.

Sorry, I thought that everyone knew the reasons for this.....

There were 2 reasons that the choice was made.

    1. On the night the MC Richie Moore announced that the decision was unanimous when it was split, this was a simple mistake but should not have happened none the less. To combat this in the future all score cards will be announced by the MC along with the result just as it is in boxing.

    2. I was made aware two days following the event that one of the Officals Aidan Marron had given a half point (e.g 9.5) on one of the rounds.

When i was told this i spoke to Aidan and then the other officals from the event (Dave Jones, Peter Lavery and Dec Larkin) and got the facts together. I then drove up to speak to Liam Shannon about it in person, then drove to Dublin to speak to John Kavanagh.

It was agreed by all involved that the fairest way to deal with this was a re-match.

Cage Contender is totally open about this event and have answered many questions about it. We hope this will answer your questions.
