Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Some iinfo here from the Dutch. I'm using a system like this incorporated into a window spandrel panel for one project where a centralised system is not appropriate. It uses two 40w computer fans which run at about 4 watts and move 40m3 per hour.

....can't see anyone taking out a filter system and washing it once a month. Combine it with our (mostly) hard water, I'd like to see a few years old in this country as well.

And, looking at the size of the unit, looks like a sizeable box to be bridging your inner leaf, as well.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Hi,

Information I received from both homeowners and contractors in the USA formed part of the reason I stayed away from offering MHRV equipment or services.

While the USA covers a lot of ground with different weather conditions some might say extremes in temperatures, humidity etc between Florida / Chicago, New York / California and everywhere in between one common problem they have with mechanical ventilation often used along side air heating systems is dirt build up in the ducting.

Using a central manifold which tends to be popular here was often the cause of sick buildings, unlike here the buildings were standard homes not large industrial / commercial spaces.

The filters in the manifold are easy to clean however many are not cleaned when scheduled and some suppliers stretch out the cleaning intervals in their sales presentations to make their system appear easier to manage.

The real problems arise in the ducting, some systems are not adequatly insulated while other well insulated ducts are not smooth inside.

The badly insulated type can be effected by condensation causing mould growth which because it can't be seen is not cleaned and even if it were it would be a big job causes the spread of spores carried around the building by the air.

The well insulated types are very often flexible steel ducts which by design are ridged inside, these ridges are gathering places for household dust etc which again is transported around the house.

There is a lot to said for the Dutch system, cleaning once a month should not be a problem even in dishwashers because they usually have salt added for hard water areas.

What I really like is the whole system is being cleaned on a regular basis not just a filter in a centralised unit leaving God knows what in the ducting.

    .

    Hi Galway

The heat exchanger is not the filter, the filter is seperate, but all can be easily cleaned, the heat exchanger can be cleaned under a shower or in a dishwasher and the filter can be cleaned in the washing machine. It can be washed once a month or once a year depending on your taste!

I suppose you would have to put a few Calgon tablets into the water in Galway!

There is an option to put the box straight onto the wall as part of your fitted kitchen, it measures 72cm x 30cm just like a fitted kitchen unit, or you can build it into the wall to hide it a bit or make it part of your fitted wardrobe with stale air entering your wardrobe from below, airing your clothes as it leaves the building.

If you want it beside your window, a joiner can make the FiWi HRV box in the same wood so it all matches.

The cold half of all HRV boxes are cold btw, some are insulated others aren't! the wall mounted FiWi HRV unit is insulated, the one fitted into the wall isn't.
