Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Stolen: Giant Rapid 2 (Small)

    Hi folks,

My girlfriend's bike was stolen from the "secure" underground car park in Thornwood, Booterstown Avenue today.

It was locked to a n style metal bike rack with a Kryptonite Mini U-Lock, right alongside my FCR, but both the bike and the lock were gone when she got home from work today.

It's been reported to the Gardai and we're trying to get the footage from the CCTV cameras. Is there anything else worthwhile doing?

The bike was a Small (46.5") 2010 Giant Rapid 2 with a ladies saddle in pretty much mint condition. It had Pinhead skewers on both wheels, the clips taken off the pedals, a rear SKS raceblade mudguard, a LifeLine Alloy Bottle Cage, 2 light connectors on the handlebars, an underseat connector for a saddlebag, and the chain had recently picked up some rust.

I'll try put up some pics of the actual bike later.

I know it's a stretch but if anyone sees a bike matching this description for sale, I'd very much appreciate a heads up.

    Cheers,
    John.

Crap to hear. Hope she gets it back. Will keep an eye out.

Would it be better if the sentence immediately above the photo was removed in case the skangers read boards, and ownership needs to be proved somewhere down the line?

Or does she know the frame number in which case she could always prove ownership by that anyway?

    Cheers, good call. Removed.

She's sure she has it somewhere but hasn't found it yet!

She has the key for the Pinhead skewers too, I'm guessing they'd have to do some damage to get them off without it.

    No prob.

There's also good advice here. Although it's an old article I believe some if not all of the locations are still valid.

Plus obviously check the free ads - donedeal, gumtree etc.

    Best of luck.

Edited to add: Also might be worthwhile posting on http://www.dublinfgss.com/ where lots of couriers are, because they're pretty bike aware, constantly on the streets, and down on bike theft.
