Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hello,

I have a WD 160gb HD and want to copy some 4.5gb ISO files to it. When I try its says theres not enough space, but there is plenty.

I've found some posts online recommending converting the drive to NSFT's to overcome the 4 gig limitation.- and other posts saying this may damage content already on the drive.

Is this true will changing from FAT32 do this?

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Converting the drive to NTFS means formatting the drive as NTFS.
This will erase everything on the drive.

FAT32 has a maximum file size limit of 4GB.

Your best bet if you have enough space is to copy everything off the drive on to your computer, then format the drive as NTFS and copy everything back onto the drive.

what OS are you? win7 can convert the drive without formatting. i've done it myself on a 1TB WD Elements and it didn't erase anything

FAT32 can be formatted to NTFS without any loss of data. Doing it the other way erases the drive.

You can convert FAT to NTFS using the convert command without losing data

"although the chance of corruption or data loss during the conversion is minimal, it is recommended that you backup any data that you do not want to lose on the volume that you want to convert before you start the conversion to be extra safe."

yeah, it's only for FAT to NTFS though. go the opposite way, you have to format the hard drive.
i think it takes about a half-hour or shorter to do for a 1TB anyway. i can't really remember cos it was a few months ago. i had a few 4GB+ films that i wanted to back up but the WD was FAT32.

    simples, really :)

I had the same issue before. I use a 1.5tb external as a backup. I wasn't able to transfer the big iso files, so I used windows Rar to split the iso files. I was able to transfer them then.

yes you need to mount it on a virtual drive such as Daemon Tools, Slysoft Virtual Drive, or PowerISO, all of which will allow you do this.
you then select the virtual drive in PowerDVD or another player and play the DVD from that.

VLC plays ISO files by itself (assuming it is a DVD image).
