Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Serviced my mate's 2007 3.0 Van the other night , I've changed the the handbrake shoes , the cables , and adjusted the front cable and the shoes themselves , and the handbrake is still awful ! The shoes were well bedded in and still you could pull away at tickover with the handbrake pulled .

    Any ideas?

No problems in 20k/kilometres, but like the 'shuddering' reverse, have avoided relying exclusively on handbrake in any situation and also have avoided reverseing up steep hills.
Never know when I might have to do both in the future but up to now, no problem.
    Thanks for the tip though.

I was going to reply with "my handbrake is grand after 5 years", but today the light comes on (something like (0) on the dash) to tell me to change my brakepads.
While my handbrake is good, it only really takes effect at the last quarter of it's stroke.

Have you tried swapping back the old shoes to see if it makes a difference. Failing that time to find a good mechanic :D
