Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That probably depends on whether you have an 'autumn' or 'winter' complexion, and what you accessorize with.

You're trying to make excuses for purple to look good?
HA! It'd be easier to run 10 miles in the rain...:)

If it's the same purple as on the logo then we're all going to be sporting Barney-esque t-shirts for the A/W 2010 season!

Just quote the most recently posted list, then delete the quote marks and enter your time at the bottom.

No showers as far as I know, at the 5-mile the changing facility was a large tent.

Speaking of which, what's the weather doing over there, and looking like for Saturday?

According to Met Eireann - Saturday will be mostly cloudy, avg temps 16-18. Pretty poor for August, but pretty good for racing.

You'll be OK parking on Chesterfield Ave. Loads of space.

Well it does get a bit crowded along there:

Travelling from Galway myself, will be taking the Toll option and up off the Blanchardstown exit from the M5O. Around the r'bout to Castleknock and will be going into the park from that side. Hope to park on Chesterfield Avenue as well, just like I did for the half last year. Got there early enough and there was no probs with space at all.

Calf injury just hasn't recovered well enough to make this worth taking a chance on. Its a pity as its the first race in 6 years running that I will miss through injury but it just isn't worth it.

I'm coming up from Limerick on the train and wondering if it would be better to leave baggage in a locker in Heuston station?

Baggage tent is very close to the start line. Keep in mind that there will be a (slow) queue to put bags into it as it is a manned tent this year.

Closing the parts of the main road that we run on is great for the runners. No so great for those driving to the race. Heuston Station may be a reasonable alternate car park.

The Travelodge in Castleknock is not too far from the start. I did a quick quote check - 50 euro/night.

It might be a longer drive with all the parking restrictions and gate closures.

BTW, it looks like it is 50 euro for a twin room (no breakfast) at Castleknock Hotel tonight. 85 euro with breakfast.

I always stay there when I'm doing a race in Phoenix Park. You enter the park by the Castleknock Gate and park just outside the gate. Make sure to turn your car to face towards castleknock college as its quite narrow along here and lots of people walk back this way after. Its a bit of a walk to the start but there will be crowds of people heading over so its easy to find. Good for getting back to hotel though!

I think that you mean the gate at White's Road. That road gets full quite quickly (though good advice about parking direction).
At worst it is 2km to the start - a nice warm-up and much of it is downhill.

I will again be locking my bike to the railing around a tree on Chesterfield Ave opposite Furze Road junction (so I can cycle back toward Castleknock without crossing the race route).

The race starts very close to that junction and finishes on Furze Road.

I may have missed it, but does anyone have a Garmin Connect race profile for the race?

will have to see how the positions will sort themselves out. could be in the mix for the dublin championship medals. slight sore throat atm has me a bit worried. good luck to every one.

For anyone thinking of parking/accessing the Park on Saturday:

    http://www.phoenixpark.ie/media/RCO%2021%208%2010.pdf
Where is "Mountjoy to Phoenix (Main Road)" and "Phoenix to Gough (Main Road)"? Are they sections of Chesterfield Avenue? Which parts?

You should go with him for the first few miles to give him a scare :)

"Mountjoy" refers to Mountjoy Cross, the roundabout at the Castleknock end.
"Gough" is Gough Junction, the roundabout at the Wellington Monument, at the city end.
You can see them both marked on this Nature Map (1.75MB)
Basically there will be very little parking in the Phoenix Park.

Hey guys, I know this is a random longshot, but me and Mr Gypsy are coming up from Galway for this. He needs to get to Rathdrum in Wicklow afterwards but I have to get me and the little Gypsies home to Galway... By any chance is anyone heading in the Wicklow direction after the race and could offer him a lift? We would be super grateful.

I'm entered in this race, but due to recent knee injury it was looking like I wouldn't be able to compete.

I was careful with my knee, got some physio and rested it this week as I was determined to run on Saturday.

Well when I was getting ready for work this morning I got a shooting pain through the middle of my back. Been in bits all day.... So I won't be running tomorrow by the looks of things :(:(

Best of luck to anyone who is. I'll be cheering for you and jealous of you all at the same time!

Really looking forward to this now
Home from hols in Cork, bags unpacked, dinner had, little one in bed, *"prehydrating" and thinking of what I need to bring, what time I need to leave, where I am going to park, what pace I am going to go, how I am going to eat up the hills, how I am going to love and embrace the pain, how I will power home like the olympic athlete that I am
I will win the race against my former lazy self

Good luck one and all, I salute all my fellow competitors.
May everyone get out of the race what they put in.

    *wtf am I writing??

You'll be OK parking on Chesterfield Ave. Loads of space.

What time would you need to be there for??

Know what you mean. But you should run it as a long run.
