Anyone here like Parkway Drive? Haven't heard much talk about them on this thread so I thought I'd give them a mention.

Their new album 'Deep Blue' just came out a few weeks ago, heavier and less melodic than their previous albums. Anyone here listened to it, if so, what's your opinion on it?

Just thought I'd throw this in, a song from their previous album Horizons which is absolutely amazing, one of my favourite albums.

I really like Horizons. Haven't given Deep Blue a proper listen yet!

Haven't listened to the new album yet, that track sounds good though.

    You can't beat Carrion!:pac:

You can't beat Horizons at all. Perfect album.
Romance is dead is also amazing.

It's worth getting the new album anyway, it's pretty different, but a bands gotta change I suppose.

    Love this band.
It kills me that some people won't even give them a chance because of the "core" being at the end of the genre.

I often hear people commenting on not being able to understand what they're saying, these same people also seem to love this band.*

*For the record, I do like CC, I just have a diverse taste. Not unlike many other's in here, I see. ;)

Downloaded Horizons a few weeks ago and fnally got it onto ipod for the daily luas trip to work. Great album...............

HAve they played here yet. HAve seen some of the youtube vids of their gigs and they look unreal live. I like the fact they look like beach bums in their flipflops and boardies, suits me perfectly ha ha

I grew up in Australia, those dudes and I Killed The Prom Queen are pretty much royalty over there.

If you dig Parkway you owe it to yourself to get Prom Queen's "Music for the Recently Deceased". Killer album, and one of the best live bands I've ever seen

NIce one bro, Il get on that this evening.

I was surprised when watching the Parkway Drive live vids and seeing the place go nuts as did not think they had that much of a fanbase, how wrong I was. One of the live vids for Carrion on youtube is of the scale...................if only i was limber and young enough to rock out like the old days!!

Edit just re-read your post and its Prom Queen and not Porn Queen................I should get out more.

Got my ticket the day after they went on sale, I've been waiting years to see these and there was no chance I was going to miss this... Even if I have to go on my own. Hahaha

Can't believe the bad press Deep Blue has gotten, the album sounds massive and there's only amazing tracks on it.
One thing though, the into Karma is just a slightly altered and extended version of the intro to Feed Them To The Pigs. Little cheeky one like. Haha

    EXCITED FOR JUNE!

I haven't listened to much of the first 2 albums. From what I heard of them I like a few tracks here and there but they're both a bit hit and miss, production isn't as great on them as Horizons and I'm not that mad on a lot of the lyrics on them either.

Horizons is excellent though. The new album is ok but tbh I'll go up and see them for Horizons alone.

Amazing set and performance 2night. You could tell the singer was blown off his feet by the crowds reactions.

    Cant wait for Sonisphere now.

I've never been able to get over the awful, awful name. It's created a mental block for me when it comes to their music.

I've never understood how Parkway Drive is a bad name? :S I've heard countless people say its a terrible name but I think it sounds fine... And it has meaning, its not just a stupid name meant to sound cool.

For me it just conjures up images of a whiny emo band. I realise this is not what the band actually is, but the name itself I would mentally lump in with the likes of Fall Out Boy, Elliot Minor, Billy Talent and You Me At Six. Maybe it's just how typically American the street name sounds? No idea really, just don't think it's pleasant on the ear.

I felt exactly the same, and I held slight reservations before listening to them. I guess the name conjures up "colourful" images of a sunny residential area or a scenic road by the beach whereas other metalcore bands choose names that are a little more brooding (All Shall Perish, Misery Signals, Unearth, etc.) Now I dig the name, but I'm sure many people continue to get the wrong impression.

Alright fair enough :D At least you realise they aren't whiny emo kids... When people hear "Metalcore", whiny emo kids seems to always be what springs to mind haha
