Anyone think Paudie Maher has been under-par this season so far. He will face a huge test marking joe on sunday. That will be a pivotal battle. If Maher struggled against aisake then how will he fair against Joe Canning?

All depends on the supply into Canning, the Maher-Canning battle will be heavily influenced by what happens further up the field.

Which doesn't bode well for Canning or Galway I'm afraid.

And as much as I hate Quinns, you can't fight City Hall so I'll most likely be in the smoking area out the back giving out about the place before and after the match :P.

I'd say they will get 45,000 for the two games.

Was thinking of going to this game. I'm looking to buy tickets online. I'm 16 and not able to get them from the club due to transport issues. I'm trying to find a juvenile stand ticket. Ticketmaster is offering them but they appear to be sold out. Does anyone know how if any more will become available? If not will tickets definitely be available outside on the day?

    Donal,

You go to Elverys sports shop across from the Croke Park Hotel on the Hogan Stand side. They will have plenty of tickets.

Not at all looking forward to this match as I feel we simply haven't the half-forwards to progress. Tannian may be moved out but is probably injury-hampered and he doesn't show much interest in getting fit and is very hot and cold. From the KK match we have seen (once again) that Harte, Donnellan, Lynch (first touch very bad), and probably Callinan and Andy Smith are just not good enough. So where do you go from there? Put in (gulp) Ger Mahon at CHF? And all that is assuming that the backs will play as well as the last day, not a given by any means. Very fearful altogether.
If Tannion hits form at all he could be a real scorin threat and take the pressure off JC. I'd agree about Donnellan, he's been cat melodeon all year and takes silly shots that always go wide. Disagree about Callanan and Smith though. Callanan can take a score and has searing pace which could cut open the Tipp defence if given a run. While Smith doesn't get many scores and can be fiery his work-rate is second to none and he can give the backs a dig out when nedded.
A player who Galway miss badly but who isn't talked about much is Alan Kerins. if on form he could be a match winner for galway

I's say 35,000 myself. Cork won't travel in the usual numbers what with two Munster Finals the 2 weeks before and the footballers in action the day before. Antrim will only bring a few. Galway people didn't exactly flock to the Leinster Final either.

You'll have no bother getting tickets on the day. It won't be anywhere near a sellout. I'd say 40,000 max, maybe not even that. If you're not sure where to go to get a ticket just ask a guard, there should be plenty of them around in Drumcondra. Best to get there early though, leave it late and you could be queueing for a while.

We need a big performance from Tannian.

We need a big performance from Tannian.

Plus 14 others, and maybe 16 or 17 if you include subs. We really need the whole team performing to have any chance of winning this game. The forwards in particular need to up their game, Tannian and Donnellan and especially Andy Smith who has been disappointing this year and is probably fortunate to have even held his place.

shane mcgrath is an excellent midfielder, cant understand why sheedy has him centre forward again when the move didnt really work against offaly. perhaps he'l grow into the role but i feel we get more from him marauding from midfield. Good luck tipp but if we lose i hope galway win it out.

Not sure how this one will go, it will be close 2 or 3 points in it. I can see Joe Canning carrying Galway for most of the match as usual, Tipp will need to double mark him. Should be the best game of the weekend.

If anything Damien Hayes has saved our season more than Ger Farragher or Joe Canning.

As a Tipp fan, I'm worried bout people saying Canning will carry Galway. I know that may also include many Galway people. I do think Galway have enough quality players to trouble Tipp. It'll be a great match, many individual battles all over the pitch, one that will be close, so hoping Tipp can sneak it.

    Come on TIPP

I find myself in the strange situation where on Sunday at 4 I'll be roaring for Tipp against Galway..........and as soon as the hurling is over I'll be heading for Terryland Park to shout for Galway United :)

    Seven Worlds will Collide

Going with my best m8 who is a fcukin Tipp man which is great when we win but nasty if we lose , one of my happiest memory's is going to crocker with him and his dad the year tipp were cruising against Wexford 5 mins to go tipp are up by 6 points and martin story comes on his dad says they can bring on Jesus Christ at this stage wont make a difference oh i LOLed and loled and loled was one of my fondest Gaa memory's and Wexford won the replay

Tipp won this replay well as I remember it, It was 2001 and they went on and won the All Ireland, beating Galway in the final

brilliant catch by a galway player! getting to be an exciting match!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

Galway's shooting very impressive. Canning looking to be back to his near best. Michael Cahill and Paddy Stapleton are playing blinders for Tipp. Kavanagh very solid for Galway at full back. Great game so far.

Great point by maher to close the gap. Looks like it'll go down to the wire, this one.

Galway arent getting the breaking ball up front. Soft goal for tipp.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,307 ✭✭✭cruiserweight

I think that Tipp deserve to be ahead at half time. I am not suprised that David Young has been taken off so early

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,184 ✭✭✭Patsy fyre

Tipp look much more comfortable with shane back at midfield. David young never got into the game. If tipp can get more ball into there inside fowards more they should be winners here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,553 ✭✭✭soccymonster

Ouch, bad blow for galway just before half time. Great game though :) good first score for callanan to get after coming on too!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

It might have looked soft but Callanan showed what an intelligent player he is for that second Tipp goal. He had the brains to anticipate the flick on. A little bit of class. Its what separates the average players from the good ones.

Hope tipp will push on in the second half and giving away soft frees. Also lar corbett needs to come into the game more.

Its been a scrappy strange match. Its hard to say who are the better team. I'd obviously say Galway, but the play seems to be very fragmented.
