Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Walking down Marlborough street and noticed 2 female gardai crossing the road putting on blue plastic gloves, I went to bend over but unfortunately they preferred to search a couple of junkies, Marlborough street both ends has about a billion junkies.

Billy. The Seagull we named, on the roof across from my office in town. He can't fly, and has been stuck there for days.

Pics aren't great (particularly the one with the rain, where my camera's digital zoom really shows how crap it is).

But I wanted to highlight his plight, Billy's lack of flight :(

He doesn't look in good shape. Is there anything you can do for him? Have you looked into rescue perhaps? Has he had much food. Is the roof accessible?

I think it is accessible. The other Gulls are dropping him food, but we're calling the DSPCA today to see if they can do anything.

he looks like a juvenile, so may not start trying to fly till his parents stop bringing him food - i assume that's them in the second shot.

Its a juvenile alright, and yes, I believe they're the parents, one is currently feeding him.

I found some information here that might be of use. http://www.irishwildlifematters.ie/animals/birds.html
    Where in town is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,760 ✭✭✭Effects

I rang the DSPCA and they said it's normal. It's fine on the roof and it's the parents who are feeding it. She said it would probably have come down from a higher roof and it'll be able to fly soon. Keep taking pictures of it. I felt particularly sorry for him in the rain photo.

well it just looks like from where he's looking down at the clouds the height he's at and the type of cloud. Matched with the distance between the lower level of cloud and the upper level of cloud... It looks really alien to me and i fly a fair bit. I dont want to have to spend the day researching cloud types, formations and levels in which they occur in the troposphere (some occur in the stratosphere i know).

Im confused and need answers if its shopped ill be okay... I dont want to know a crap load of facts on clouds *wails*. Sorry for the length of post

Or maybe if its not shopped where it was taken...

101001 I don't tend to photoshop any of my images, apart from adjusting colour etc.
The picture was taken on Friday past, on a flight from Derry to Dublin at around 8.00. I wouldn't be clued up on cloud formation but there’s a few more pictures of the same scene in my pix.ie account (here) that may give you a better insight to how they were sitting that evening.
By the way the last four were taken on the flight back.
