I've heard, when you become a mod, they replace the @ with another number, and the 4 digits are the speed dial for the hookers.

It's the amount of days you have left to live.

Devore had a new feature to the site added after a pact with the devil went badly wrong.

Didn't you get the email about it?

That's just like him. No wonder he went to live in the worst country in Europe.

Not that bit, on the main page below that

Anyway it's "internet time", it's pretty cool

@591 refers to 591 beats, there is 1000 beats in a day so therefore @591 would be like 59.1 precent through the day. Which I think is 14:11

Indeed it was. Should have checked it before posting. Edited.

So, can we change that on the front page so that links to the explaination of internet time? :)

    eg.

You only see it when you go to the home page (as far as I know).

If the time is the same everywhere in the world how does it fit with the date?
i.e. if it's July 13th @013 right now, what is the Swatch time in the US?

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

I have to say I never noticed that before at all. Then again, I almost never go to the home page.

Edit: I was sure when I say the "it's the internet time" post above it was a jokey response until I read the wiki link. Never heard of that notion before at all.

the time and date would be the same in the US. using a universal time is not new. GMT or Zulu time has been around for decades.

The central meridian for @time is switzerland, so it would probably be an hour earlier on the 24 hour clock in Ireland.

So even though it's actually July 12th in America they'd still say July 13th? I can't see that catching on!

It would only be used in areas where multiple timezones are involved.

If you look at the National Hurricane Centre in the US, they produce their advisories in the local time zone in which their storms are located, and in Zulu Time. This is because the area they monitor covers numerous time zones.

    E.g. Earth :D

Can anyone in the US/Australia/etc. post a screenshot of what internet time looks like on boards when it's a different day in Central Europe to where you are?
Actually, what does it say at 11.30p.m. in Ireland?
