I'm trying to guess if it is a Synapsid or a Temnospondyl.

Have a feeling it may fall under the latter heading but that may be beacuse the head in the drawing reminds me of a frog somewhat.

Only problem is my knowledge of Temnospondyls is not great, despite the fact that one with a big fin should stand out. :D But I am pretty sure that it is not a reptile, and is an amphibian.

You're on the right track Kess!

Ok so it is a Temnospondyl of some sort. The fin would suggest that it lived either in or close to the same time period as the finned Synapsids. Which means it is most likely smaller than them somewhat.

    Got it.

After clicking on 26 names of Amphibians of the Permian period, based on the hunch that it would be in the same period as the sail back reptiles, I finally clicked on name number 27.

    Temnospondyl ??

Are they sorry WERE they amphibians?

I am really at a loss here with this one, but as you seem to know what Temnospondyl types are, just thought I would ask.

Temnospondyls or Temnospondyli is the collective name for an order of early amphibians. There are loads of them split between three or four periods, but when yekahs confirmed that the animal was one, then it just seemed logical to check the ones based in the same time period that held sailback reptiles.

    This should be quite quick.

This legless chap ( vestigal limbs don't count before anyone tries that route:P) had a thread of his own on here a while back so should not take much time for a correct answer.

Oh poo I only know it as the Marsupial Bear.

    Clever clogs LOL

As for your little snakey thing, I assume it is some kind of anaconda? Especially as the crocodile in the background might be food for it.

I don't really know a lot about snakes though.

Let us just say that the snake in question is big, really big.

And that it is long, really long.

    That would be Titanoboa

PS: Suchomimimus and Baryonx mix up LOL
