Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

QUESTION: 7 Days Work Only

    Hi,

I was wondering if someone could give me a bit of advice.

I'm currently on Jobseeker's Allowance of €196 a week. I just got a casual job working seven days straight at the Galway Races (which I'm delighted about!).I'm relying on this money to pay for my TEFL course in September and I couldn't afford to do it without this godsend :).

I know that I have to declare the week to sign off for one week at Current Claims at the Social Welfare Office. I'll be signed off for the week and my payment will resume the folowing week.

I was wondering if it would be better to declare it before or after I've completed the work?

It's just that I'm not sure when we are going to paid. Also, that week is the August Bank Holiday Weekend and I will receive two weeks in one that week. Which I could really use because my rent is due on August 2nd.

I'm just worried that I will not receive my payment for the week I'm working. If I don't, I will have nothing to live on until I get paid from the weeks work. And with rent falling on that week....As I said, I don't know when we get paid. It will certainly be after the week is up of course. If my dole is cut off during that week, I won't be able to pay my rent and will be penniless.

Is it better to declare the week I worked after I have worked it? That way, I can retain my dole payment to live on that week and forgo the dole the week after? I have no other source of income.

    Hope all this is clear....

    Thanks
