Passport renewal from Belfast?

Hi My boyfriend lives in Belfast and we are going away soon, he's cutting it tight with his passport, it's nearly out of date. I heard there was a way for him to renew it from Belfast. Can anyone give me information on this? Thanks a million :-)

Some, if not all, of the Post Offices stock the Irish passport forms and afaik there is some kind of service they offer that quickens it up. I know the Post Office in the City Centre has the forms, they'll know for sure about the turnaround times and costs etc.
