Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

need to buy a new PC for work. don't really have the time for building something and as others will be using it, i think i'd prefer a prebuilt for the warranty.

dell deals seem good, but the last one i got from them had no room to manouevre for upgrading/adding components if needed. are the machines still locked down like that?
where else does decent deals on nice n' powerful beasts? budget around abouts a grand, and don't need a monitor

Maybe try one with a bigger case next time ;)

I dont know what you mean by "locked down" - they're pretty much off-the-shelf parts inside and there are no restrictions on upgrading/adding components.

Avoid Compaq machines like the plague they are. When I worked in a PC repair store, most of the machines we got were Compaqs. I still vividly recall opening up an older Compaq machine (Win98se old) that had loose screws just tossed into the case. It was a wonder it hadn't gone bang all ready.

I never had any trouble with dells! They have pretty good customer service as well so thats a bonus.

Otherwise, if your looking for something sturdy, try a lenovo? They use them in college and they seem pretty ok.

To be honest you should be building anyway, with a grand you could get a good powerful machine with a good sizsed case for expanding! (But i know you dont want to go that route :-) )
