Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What's needed to type text in a PDF download?

Hi, downloaded a pdf job application form but I can only look at (i.e. read) the form.

I cannot complete the application form as it won't let me write text in it. Is that because I only have Adobe Reader? Do you need something else?

Or is there any other way around it?

    Thanks,

    K.

You need a PDF writer which is typically a paid for application. Generally when people need you to fill out a form and they send it in PDF it is so you print it out and fill it in.

If you need to edit it the try cute pdf. It's a free basic PDF editor.

    Thanks for that NothingMan.

Maybe I'll try an internet cafe and if they don't have it, I'll try the free editor.

    Thanks again,

    K.

Very unlikely an Internet cafe will have it. What they would have is a printer so you can print it out, fill it in and then either scan it and email it or just scan it.

Depending on how the PDF is saved ie. is it text or one bug image you can copy the contents to word and fill it in there.

This won't work if it's just one big image though.

There's no shortage of software that will allow typing over a PDF now, but this looks like the simplest solution.

    Hi

this is very easy - just use an online convertor like this http://www.freepdfconvert.com/convert_pdf_to_source.asp :)

Usually websites have these forms available so you have to fill it out online on their website and then print it off or submit it. It costs a lot of money to have a fillable pdf form.

It doesn't cost anything, the text entry fields just aren't enabled because the PDF was probably only intended to be printed.

    use a pen...
Or if you really want to type, use OpenOffice

Try foxit reader. It will let you type in text fields (on most documents).

Isn't that the equivalent of buying a cow because you're due a coffee break?

Sounds like it's not a proper PDF form. They may expect you to print it off, fill it out, and post/scan it back to them.
