Didn't really enjoy the short. Was expecting more I suppose. Ohwell.

Have to say I enjoyed that was better than I expected from a fan film.

    About a sequel:
    Karl Urban wrote:
“Interestingly enough, I did have breakfast with Alex Garland this morning,” says Urban. “It’s not off the agenda. Clearly everyone has woken up to the fact that an audience has found this movie and loves it.

“It’s entirely possible, and if people want to see another instalment then they should be vocal about that, because it can happen. The power of fandom can resurrect projects”

Tall order, but at least the possibility of a sequel in some shape or form isn't completely written off.

I was shocked the film didnt do well, I thought it was brilliant and apart from a single viewing of Stallone's disaster I had no previous knowledge or interest in Dredd.

People, I think, automatically assumed it would be awful because of the Stallone fiasco, even if they'd never seen it or registered it's existence. Maybe through osmosis or something, I dunno. I'd love a sequel, so long as everyone who made this one so great was on board. I'd really hate for sequelitis set in if they throw in a wisecracking CGI cat and Carmen Electra or whoever is the current female pull just to get a wider audience now they know people are interested.

For a low-budget short, I really enjoyed the Judge Minty film. Tbh, the only places the budget showed were in the effects and in some places the editing. But unlike Syfy who try to compensate for cheap effects by using loads of them, this film used them sparingly, so it didn't affect the viewing too much.

They did great job with the locations/sets and the props/costumes. The acting was fine I thought, at least from the main guys; that's where it matters. Major kudos to them.

Well its more hope than I had yesterday. At least there is something from Alex even if it is second hand.

Another little bit from Urban here

According to the Make a Dredd Sequel Facebook page. DNA films are to assess the DVD sales in the coming weeks and decide on whether a Sequel will go ahead or not.

i actually dont buy that many dvd but for this i made an exception, it really is a shame they didnt make that much at the BO, they only wanted $50million to greenlight the sequel, i thought it would have been guaranteed,

its actually on amazon for E8.20 at the moment for blu-ray,

Oooh gonna buy that as a present.

Is it one box with the 3d and 2d inside?

Wouldn't mind seeing it in 3d on my pc.

Both versions are on one disk if its the same as my copy.

just put my order for this in today, hopefully the sales are enough to push it into sequel territory
It definitely goes down in the under rated column of films ever

The picture quality to the 2D version looks awful, as if it wasn't given proper care and attention in the editing room. Stick to the 3D version.

Yeah the transfer looks pretty poor in places on the 2D version alright.

Ordered the Dredd film online on Monday and their out of stock, good sign maybe? Or is it just lousy wowhd again?

It was a pretty unique experience paying for a film, especially one I'd already downloaded in HD. It should be worth it for the 3D though, I'll have to get my projectors 3D working now I suppose, and buy replacement glasses for the ones I dropped.

It is one of those films that I think that seeing it in 2D really not doing it justice.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,442 ✭✭✭✭Skerries

but it definitely should be viewed though

you can get it here cheaper than WowHD as I think it is free delivery to Ireland

or Amazon if you are spending more than 25

My only reason for using wowhd is because they accept standrad Irish debit cards. I would complain about AIB being slow at sending out the visa debit cards here but I suppose it's my own fault for not switching to another bank yet.

I thought it was pretty good.

The "slow-mo" shots for 3D seemed to go on forever and looked out of place on a normal TV.

My positive response may have been tainted by watching "The Watch" (Ben Stiller / Vince Vaughan abortion).
Any film will look great in comparisson.

It is one of those films that I think that seeing it in 2D really not doing it justice.

Sort of. For me the movie works regardless 2d or 3d but it is one of the few (very few) movies that did try and do 3d justice, and on a limited budget

There is definitely a reason this thread hasnt died long ago, and that is that, there was a great little movie that a lot people loved and also a lot of people missed last year and the ones who missed it are finally finding the movie through word of mouth and other formats
The movie makers did there job but after that there where plenty of reasons already covered in this thread and elsewhere why the film did not do as well as it should have

My favourite cinema movie of last year

Absolute pile of excrement, I've seen better acting in porno's, one of the worst film I've ever watched. I wanted everyone to die. It looked ultra cheap and the story line was retarded.
