    Salisbury 3.45

    Spa's Dancer 1pt @ 8/1 PP (GP)

Ihaven't backed this one yet but will do tomorrow morning...His run last time looked funny in that R. Hills seemed to be looking for trouble (probably trying to settle the horse, but up to the 2f mark?). He was steadied at the start and was running on late but not being driven incredibly strong. He was hampered but as I said it looked almost intentional. His pedigree suggests he's got no issues with soft ground and he's performed well on it before finishinig 2nd twice of the distance of 7f. He was staying on well that day and the slower ground over the same disatance won't harm his chances. He finished 4th despite the trouble he met in running and was about to nick 3rd off a next timie out winner of Sir Michael Stoutes under Ryan Moore. He's got Frankie Dettori riding which is a plus and at 8/1 I think he could be very competitive. He has a fairly poor strike rate but has run well into places at marks of up to 8lbs higher than he is now.

Bollocks to that! Spa's Dancer is best I could find was 9/2 this morning...I'm leaving it as is in the log though. I would have backed it if I had the virtual funds.

    Lingfield 2.000

    L'Hermitage 2pts @ 7/2 Bet365

Decent start to his career having picked up whats required in the latter stages of his debut and is likely to build strongly on that.

War Party 1pt ew @ 8/1 BetFred (GP)

Made decent start to chasing career last time when effort petered out. hopefully on his 3rd start of the year and with Peter Carberry taking 7lbs off he can step up a notch and get competitive over the longer distance

    Shavansky 1pt ew @ 14/1 PP (1/4 Odds, 4 Places GP)

Things went wrong at Ascot but they tend to for certain horses. Shavansky failed to fire at the royal meeting earlier in the season too. His run before that behind Nationalism and ahead of Pintura is sound though and off that mark, over his best trip he looks better than a 14/1 shot. Provided he's not got a problem after Ascot. I'm pretty confident there was nothing amiss though or he would have been out longer.

Interestingly, yesterday I managed to pick two of the biggest dogs running where both couldn't even get into the race :( Both basically tailed off

Sweet! Bit of 25/1 placing there from Shavansky

    Challenge Stakes

    Saturday Newmarket 1.50

    Himalya 2pts @ 20/1 PP (GP, NRNB)

I'll keep backing this fcuker while he's a big price until he wins. He's difficult to place. He's obviously a group horse but over what distance? He couldn't live with Lady Of The Desert last time over 6f but thats no shame. She's a top class G1 sprinter these days. (Still annoys me to think I had the exacta in the Haydock sprint Cup but thats neither here nor there...) Back to 7f is ideal for him, well, perhaps. The one thing I like about this race for Himalya is the big field. It'll feel like a big handicap to him and he'll be staying on. 20/1 is once again too big. He will pay me back eventually but my patience is wearing thin. I'll take 20/1 here though.

    Pride Stakes

    Saturday Newmarket 4.50

    Rumoush 2pts @ 9/1 Bet365 (GP, NRNB)

Another that I've been banging my head off all season. This filly must have a win in her and another go at the 1m4f is going to suit her. She showed in the 'fillies St Leger' that she has the stamina but maybe not a huge amount of pace. She's won over the Rowley Mile on her debut this season and has just found things not sropping right for her throughout the rest of the campaign. Theres guaranteed pace in the race if Barshiba makes it on to the course and Lez Fazzani and Tinaar have been known to push the leaders. Encouragingly, Marcus Tregoning had a winner during the week and an 18/1 placed maiden (I'm still pissed I missed that - I was sitting in the bookies and went out for a smoke and forgot about it!) so theres signs that his yard might be going for a strong finish to the season. I also fancy She's Our Mark here at 16/1 whos latest effort puts here right on a par with the 7/2 market leader Eleanora Duse. Its fair to day that SOM is best at the Curragh but theres not evidence to suggest she cant be as good on the Rowley Mile.

As an aside, its amazing that Ryan Moore has elected to ride Crystal Capella instead of the shorter priced Eleanora Duse and that may be a tip in itself. If we know nothing by now the little we do know is that SMS gets a horse ready on the day so I wouldn't be worried about the abscence from the track until now.

    Newmarket 5.15

    Webbow 1pt ew @ 25/1 Bet365 (GP, 1/4 Odds, 5 Places)

He never seems to get to a certified winnable mark this horse but that doesn't stop him from running like a winner. He doesn't often try the 7f but he always tries them when theres 20+ runners because he gets the pace he needs over this distance. He hasn't won since August '07 which is an obvious and serious issue to consider when selecting him but I reckon it can pay when he reaches this sort of mark, in this sort of field and has a draw 3 off the rail with a decent number of the races leading contenders surrounding him to tow him into the race. The horse performed well when 6lbs out of the handicap to place at the St Leger meeting in a handicap but disappointed next time out. That was a very hot race with Brick Red (extremely well handicapped), First Cat (same), and the Cambridgeshire winner Credit Swap. He ran too free that day and was eased when beaten so he should be ready for this. He has no ground concerns and the stable, however unprofitable they are, had a recent winner. Jimmy Fortune is up for the third time and is a jockey that has brought me good fortune in the past but more importantly he is a solid rider whos gone well with Webbow before.

    Imperial Guest 1pt ew @ 14/1 Bet365 (GP, 1/4 Odds, 5 Places)

I like this one for obvious reasons. Always watching for the Late John Guests colours and Imperial Guest is probably the best of them. I'm taking him because he's drawn on the opposite side to Webbow and in a 30 runner handicap it's always worth having two bullets to fire. His price tells its own story as does his form. He's a 7f big handicap specialist whose very consistent and always gives you a run for your money while staying relatively stable in the weights. Nothing more to it.

This one is waiting to happen but Willing Foe looks smart. He ought to place at least though.

Fook it, tracked the winner right through.

0.2pts profit....should have gone with another firm, some paying 1/4th odds but PP only 1/5th.

    Cesarewitch

    Newmarket 3.40

Impossible to find anything at massive prices and I'd rather have something that is likely to stay the trip. Course form is useful and, requiring all the help I can get, trainer form also encouraging. Two who fit the bill on at least one of these are:

    Dayia 1pt @ 20/1 Bet365

    Aaim To Prosper 1pt @ 22/1 Bet365

    The Frankie Dettori Lucky 15

    0.2pts (3pts total) Bet Pack/Stan James

    1.50 Delegator @ 2/1
    2.25 Saamid @ 6/1
    3.00 Poets Voice @ 11/2
    4.15 Abtasaamah @ 5/1

    332.80 Possible return

All resonig goes out the window when dealing with Frankie Dettori. Godolphin are hitting all the right notes and Dettori is flying as always at the big meetings. Also and the worst I envisage is coming out with one winner from this selection which returns at least 35% of the stake. Worth it.

Frankie is the best thing that could have ever happened racing. What a gentleman and a fantastic jockey,Godolphin going seriosly strong too.

    Cheltenham 3.50

    Wayward Prince 1pt @ 11/4 Ladbrokes

Grade 1 winning hurdler at the Aintree festival last season and this will be his reappearance. Williams seems in no doubt that he is destined to be a chaser and he won his maiden PTP in Ireland at the second attempt, where I imagine he learned a bit from his first go. Theres something about a 3m hurdler going chasing that excites in that he ought to have plenty of zip compared to the average chasing types. If he takes to fences he could be rather good so I'll take a chance that he's ready today and getting a good few pounds from some of his more experienced rivals.

Motrice & Tastahil .5pt Reverse Forecast

Motrice was given too much to do in the Doncaster Cup but stayed on takingly under pressure. She won't be facing the same opposition today and with Patkai out and Akmal under a penalty still I think she can take this off he feather weight. If she was better positioned she would have finished ahead of Tastahil. It was a close thing between the two of them and Tastahil faces the filly on better terms and the shorter trip could help him too. I can't see anything else getting iinto this so a reverse forecast is the sensible option.

Akmal is a danger but I'm sick to death of backing him and despite his record of 2 from 3 at Newmarket his penalty still looms large.

    Kaua'i Girl 1pt ew @ 20/1 (GP, 1/5th Odds, 3 Places)

Worth a shout on her handicap debut but off what appears to be a relatively high mark. She's well bred and and has shown a fair amount of ability but was undone by heavy ground last time. She looks over priced to me and I'll be a player at 20/1.

    Catterick 5.10

    Zefooha 2pts @ 9/2 PP (GP)

Backed her before when runner up to Andorn and without that fecker in the field Zefooha has a great chance of getting her much deserved first win of the season. She acts on the track and has remained stable in the weights despite a string of seconds. She under performed last time but thats admissable considering how consistent she normally is. The only worry is the ground, shes only ever won on GF and seems to need it. The going stick reads relatively favourably despite the official description and hopefully she wont be too inconvenienced.

I also did one with the same selections with Frankel @ 2/1 (2,00 Guineas), Zenyatta @ 5/1 (BC Classic)

    4-Fold @ 89/1

Well, disaster averted! Frankel odds-on with some firms for the Guineas but theres a long time to go and 3 other races that need winning.

Goldikova still 6/4 but evens in places
Midday still evens but as low as 8/11 in places
Zenyatta down to 4/1 and as low as 7/2
