Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

can schleck pull out the ride of his life, can contador win a stage, cancellara .......

AND why the heck is there a feed zone ?

TT of truth or confirmation of a champion?

It's been almost three weeks since we last saw the state-of-the-art time trial machines, but finally we come to a test that should have the TT specialists drooling if they're not running on empty.

The course is majestic, running out of Bordeaux and past some celebrated grand cru vineyards. The rolling terrain should suit TT world champion Fabian Cancellara, but after three weeks of racing today's performance will be as much about who's got some form left as ability against the clock.

What will happen to Roche's 15th place on GC?

My prediction: he'll be passed by Thomas Lövkvist, but not by Vinokourov. He will not catch anyone. Weakest (ITTer) of the riders in front is Ruben Plaza Molina, but he's got 3 minutes on Roche.

My 2nd scenario would be that he will hold 15th, catching no one and not being caught by TL or AV. Roche tends to do well on week 3, when others have ran out of steam.

Yeah, I'd go with no change for Roche.

Fancy Cancellera, reckon he did nothing today after a great ride yesterday. Should have recovered enough. That would be a good finish too for Saxo Bank.

hope roche doesn't get passed by vino, there's a big enough gap for safety i think but wasn't vino a decent timetrialler in his day?

hope cancellara wins but anyone but contador really:)

Evans is 80/1 with Victor Chandler. I know he's not in form and suffering, but that's massive. Each way is 1/4 of the odds (top 3 finish).

Hmm what about Tony Martin tomorrow? :) I know most will think either Bert or Cancellara but don't forget Martin who may spring a surprise again!

Sure will be interesting anywho ! I can't wait for it :)

This stage starts in my hometown of Bordeaux :)
I think the course will go outside all the great wine castles of the area.

    Drink French Wines!!!

    and Cancellara FTW :)

Anway, I hope Cancellara does something special today. SaxoBank need a bit of glory.

I would love to see DZ or Wiggo do something, but think its probably unlikely. Martin may do ok. What about Rogers?

Good call. Cancellara leads by 17 secs from Martin in the clubhouse.

Early days yet, but I can't see anyone topping the Big Swiss Roller.

Contador will want to win this one, surely? It won't do him any good to win the GC without even one stage win - sure, its not necessary and consistency is the name of the game, but he'll want to go for it.

Lance *could* do quite well today based on his prologue performace? If only he hadn't that hump back :D

Of course he'll want to win it! Who doesn't, apart from guys who have their eyes on points tomorrow.

It's not necessary to win it, per se, but he'll want to put a decent amount of time into Schleck to quiet the naysayers. That's what's necessary.

Is there anywhere that lists the time checks, or are you guys just going from the mentions on the TV?

Stupidly enough, I've been using that letour.fr page to follow every stage in work, but it didn't occur to me to use it at home today! Thanks!

What are the chances of them racing tomorrow if its going to be as close as 2 secs of a finish today?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,913 ✭✭✭JacksonHeightsOwn

At the first time check Schleck is 5 seconds ahead of Contador

    Is Roche home?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,112 ✭✭✭Blowfish

Roche 1"10' behind Vino, so he keeps the spot.

    6"42' behind overall.

Wow, this is going to be close !! I think they should have a sprint up the Champs Elysee tomorrow, just the 2 of them, to decide this one :p

Fair play to Schleck he's giving it a real go, but anyone else amazed at how far down Contador is on the stage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

    Ah it's AC's now!

Still looks like chain-gate is going to be the deciding factor. Im not a big fan of the team time-trial but imagine the time Saxo would have put into Astana if there was one this year. Chapeau Andy your day is sure to come.:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

    Good effort by Schleck!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,612 ✭✭✭jwshooter

contador will win by more that 33 seconds i hope now .

    chapeau schleck great ride

chapeau contador did what he had to do

contador definitley not the rider he was last year hes gonna have to get his mojo back to beat andy next year

So Contador's overall lead is 39 seconds, *exactly* the amount he gained the day of Schleck's mechanical failure? Controversial!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,146 ✭✭✭Morrisseeee

Congrats to Contador, but he didn't have it easy, imagine how close it would have been without that chain incident !!
