It's just me I think, and maybe a few other people who play the game, they look out of place and chunky. Don't suit it at all IMO

Agreed. None of the sprites are consistent because it's hand drawn so, the animation just doesn't flow. Way too jerky and it's annoying/distracting while playing.

That reminds me of just how much better 2I's presentation was than 3S. Just add the 3S announcer and some of its music and you'd have the best of the SF3 series, as far as look and general atmosphere go.

I love what capcom did with remixing Super turbo into HDR (apart from the obvious stupid mistakes and bugs) but it definitely split the community. I would prefer if they just kept third strike faithful to the arcade version and added a wealth of online features, rather than opening up a can of worms with remixing and rebalancing it.

I loved the new redrawn HD graphics in HDR, and i really didn't get what all the fuss was about from people who hated them, but that took forever to produce and cost capcom loads of time and money. Third strike has got so many more animation frames in it than Super Turbo did, I really can't see the same thing being done this time around. It would just cost too much. Also, while there definitely is a case to be made for rebalancing some of the stupid stuff in 3S, i think at most they should put a bit of thought into tweaking damage output to buff lower tiers up a bit and nerf the top tier, ken, chun, yun, etc, rather than tinkering with actual move properties and pissing lots of longtime fans off.

This game is going to make it's money on the online modes. If they go the same route they did with the MVC2 re-release, and throw in a couple of filters, widescreen options, lobbies, blind picking, good solid matchmaking, and a proper, fully featured training mode it'll be a day 1 purchase for me. Anything else is just a bonus.

I would be very very suprised if many people call for much graphical change to 3S. It's a thing of beauty.

    Mwhahaha rebalance. :D

I think I've made enough posts in this thread and my opinion hasn't changed on any of this, but I'm happy to let Azza continue to represent the "rebalance" side of the discussion since he's doing such a fine job.

i was begining to think i was the only one.:)

I'd love it if they polished up the interface and brought back the NG and 2I backgrounds, but changing the sprites would be madness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭Dunjohn

3S is the only version of SF3 I've ever played so I didn't know about the multi-tier backdrops in the earlier game. Yes, definitely, I'd be all for a return of those. The victory screens also look much better. 3S with some of the 2I presentation would definitely be ideal.

'Course, they'd need to draw some new battered fighters for the win screens. Fine by me, you stupid French emo punk.

they need to change judgement to not random
some sort of anti-aliasing filter, enhancement layer for the graphics
ability to turn off BGMs or menu music [that rap song, my ears]
    training mode etc

not sure if they would invest too much time on this.
    was MvC2 offered as is?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭Dunjohn

The menu screens were overhauled, the intro was removed, there were some filters on offer to accomodate modern televisions and all characters were unlocked from the start, but otherwise it was the same.

Wasn't judgement just based on who scored most points?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

    no

    its probably grade.
SF4 needed something like this, it is pretty cool looking

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,910 ✭✭✭Sisko

Always found it amusing but I can imagine it being hated for series tournies.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,006 ✭✭✭Ramza

If it comes to judgement in a tourney match it is ignored and another game is played

I'm totally against a rebalancing of this game, but if one does happen I think the only thing that should be tweaked is 1/3 reduced damage on Chun's SA2 and doubled speed with which Yun's SA3 depletes. Tinkering with hitboxes and other technical details opens a can of worms that would never end.

    Awesome username :D Welcome

Welcome circle masher. you and your bro were two of the coolest guys I met at SVB ^^

I'm for changing some hitboxes, but I would put that on the bottom of my priorities list (top being chun super/yun gj meter size, chun's 2 stock etc)

There no point changing one or two things.

If you change one thing, go on and rebalance the game fully.

Hello fellas, I forgot to say that before heh. And yeah Ramza, was good to meet you the other week. The looks you were shooting me on Dragon's setup were too funny! Woulda been good to get some games in at Casino but I think I was on AE when you moved to 3S.

But what actually 'needs' changing apart from Chun and Yun? Adjusting those two alone would drastically alter quite a few match-ups (for example Alex, Oro and Hugo suffer Chun and Yun particularly badly and would automatically have more success with nerfed Houyoku and Genei-Jin).

But either way it's not as if an imbalanced game is a bad game. I enjoy the absurd odds of Hugo vs Chun, it's like trying to crack a complex code. But maybe that's just me.

    ha.

The problem is if you don't differentiate the game enough, you're still splitting the community, but I'd reckon most people would take the original to be the true version and play on ggpo etc.

Might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,707 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

I would bet Bison dollars that GGPO are considering removing 3S once 3SOE is out.

Because they keep promising that the game is on GGPO temporarily.

Dragon is the man, that guy should write a book :pac:

I held the view that if Capcom were to just change one or two things, they wouldn't, they'd go all out and go for the long haul. But IMO changing one or two things (or three :pac:) would really change a lot like you said circle

Whatever happens, some fans are getting shafted. :/ I'll definitely still check it out though, even if it is considerably changed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 955 ✭✭✭GorySnake

I think we can all accept that Capcom realise what they need to do to make more people play this game. Nerf Ramza.

hey circle masher, great to meet you at SVB (played vs your Hugo as Chun in casino on Monday). Glad to see you posting here!

Aaaah, nice to talk to you again. Yeah I remember our games man, they were down the wire!

    Placebo, you're Anti-Girl yeah? :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

Yup thats me :D me and my several alias'
thanks for letting me use your stick man

    getting back on topic,
I dont think the game needs a complete overhaul, just few slight nerf adjustments. Hopefully the re-release, wether changed or not, will bring the game back to life

the lack of support for 3s at svb was shocking, we should all get those small ps2's with screens and have street tournaments
