Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey all, i was just on the FAI website looking for information on getting my coaching badges, but the site isn't great.

Some of the links for some of the badges don't work.

Is there anyone out there who has done their coaching badges and can let me know a little about what's involved in getting them?

you need Kickstart 1 and 2

then you can move onto UEFA badges.

if your with a club try get them to pay for Kickstart or pay for it yourself.

Kickstart 1 is a days course, no exam.
Kickstart 2 is a weekends course (Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday)

From there it depends which way you're going with it, youth or seniors.

The senior route is the way I'd like to go, but there doesn't seem to be a course for it yet according to the website?

There is a senior intro, course but the link doesn't work and the senior cert doesn't exist at the moment according to the site.

Also there isn't another kick start course till January:mad:

    Have a look at http://www.fai.ie/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userslist&listid=4&Itemid=83

find a dev officer in your area contact them, if your with a club go through the club to get to them.
I was told that the senior cert had a very poor take up and didnt get off the ground whether they'll try again I dont know. They said that most involved in adult teams think they dont need courses. Failing that go down the KS1,KS2 YTh cert route. There are courses that dont appear on the calendar which is printed early in the year and not amended. Also bear in mind that they are adding more courses pre Yth cert I think from this sept there's a few more workshops to get done in addition to the 2 kick starts . Are you involved with a team cause it is difficult if your not

They're running them all in the run up to AGM albeit in Wexford http://www.fai.ie/images/stories/Festival_of_Coach_Ed.pdf

here is the calendar for 2010 loads of courses still coming up

Cheers I'm not currently involved with a club, why would it be difficult if I'm not involved with a club? Is that because actual coaching experience needed?

More the experience you'll pick up - dont need to be with a club to do the badges.
There is supposed to be a delay between doing courses also but if you make contact with a dev officer they will let you know what you'll get away with
a lot of people do KS1 and 2 almost together and then try get Yth cert soon after but the FAI wont advise you to do that. Yth is a big jump and you'd want to be with a team for it.Then as i said they're bringing in more requirements - small sided games and strength and conditioning workshops to do yth cert
