Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey all,

    was wondering if anyone can clarify something for me. Im fairly sure I remember reading somewhere before that the lens can have a hood, cap or filter installed, but only one at a time?

    Can't seem to find such information again, but would like to know so just thought id ask on here hoping someone can clarify. Want to pick up a UV filter and hood for it, but if I can only use one, I dont want to buy both.

    Cheers :)

    if it's anything like my old Minolta 50mm, the hood is built into the lens. It slides out just inside the rim of the lens. When it's pulled out, you cannot use a filter. But pushed back in, you can use a filter, and with a filter on, you can of course use a cap. Maybe the Nikon one is different? I've not got one yet. But, tbh, I never once used the hood for the 50mm I had. Very rarely use them on any lenses.

    The lens is fairly well recessed into the body of the 50mm f/1.8
    so I'm not sure there is much point in fitting a hood to this lens.
    It has a 52mm filter thread. As most filters are double-threaded
    you can screw on one or more filters and then put the lens cap
    on the filter

    Well.. judging from pictures.. the hood seems to screw in, as if it were a filter;

    But this must be a different hood?

    I'll chance my arm with that ES-62 and a UV filter, i think.

    Cheers guys!
