To return to the original topic - the performance of beaten provincial finalists in the 4th round of the qualifiers.

One thing that could be done is to have an open draw in this round, so that a provinicial finalist could play another provincial finalist.

Is there any overwhelming reason why the draw is organised the way it is, such that each of the beaten finalists play a round 3 winner? Every other round of the qualifiers is open draw.

I think its a reward for getting to a provincal final.

I don't think it should be changed tbh.

    No it's not.

In QR2 the QR1 winners play the teams dropping in from the Championship proper.

I agreed that it was probably seen as a reward in the beginning (the stronger team being theoretically the beaten finalist, so seed them against the weaker qualifier winner)

However the record of beaten provinical finalists....

They said it last night after the Cork v Limerick game on RTE that out of 40 losing provincial finalists only 13 have won their next game in the qualifiers!
..... would indicate that its actually not worked that way, thats the way the draw is done is to the detriment of the provincial finalist?

Just wondering did a county board or club put forward the format idea or was it decided by a central body?

Who came up with the qualifiers idea initially?

Always comes down to childish comments like that doesn't it.

I'm glad you've found a level thats suitable for you to communicate at. :pac:

Uhh bitchy:eek: by the way calling someone childish does not elevate you to a level above that person but merely demonstrates your inability to debate a topic without name-calling.

The results speak for themselves, try not to be so touchy about it:D

They drew at home to Antrim. So had to replay the following weekend.

They have played 5 weeks in a row doesn't matter if they had a reply or not.

we have heard in other sports when you lose a game they can't wait to get back on the field again to get it out of their system with a win.

Like Flukey said already teams will make any old excuse about losing.

Dublin have used the lack of match practice after winning in Leinster for years when it comes to QF
