According to the Sunday World, Wayne Dundon is broke. Maybe this will make him move out of Limerick and seeking his living elsewhere, perhaps as a thug for hire or a model for oversize pink shirts. Anyone have any suggestions for Wayne on how he can get his finances in order?

We should have a whip around for the poor chap. It's terrible to see such an upstanding citizen of our fair city so stuck for cash.:(

he has been selling quite a bit of coke already, maybe adding lemonade to his product range could be the answer. Good thinking

He can sell his arse on O'Curry street. Maybe a psycho punter might strangle him.

Why would he move out of Limerick? He has a free house (that we pay for) and gets a cheque off us every week.

you mean the dole? That's hardly enough to pay for Cinderella carraiges and 4 wheel drive vehicles.
Maybe Willie O'Dea could help him out.

Highly unlikely I'd say, if he's really broke and in debt he's more use to his associates dead as a warning to others.

So, what becomes of the Dundon gang if Wayne is out of the picture? He was the main reason they got anywhere?

Same as any other criminal gang when the head gets taken away. They either fall in with other gangs or a new boss takes over. There is always some person or some gang to fill a criminal void unfortunately.

True, but not always in the same place. I'm holding out for a Galway gang to take up the slack.

Well if they bring in a law saying you will have to work for your SW and Dole payments he could well be laying tar etc outside your house - good enough for em

Not a chance. If that law comes in, just watch the skivvers rushing to doctors for notes so that their SW can be changed to Disability benefits.

Genuine folk on the dole will jump at the chance of getting some work time each week, but not the skivvers.

Sunday world had him living in kusadasi a few weeks ago, with some bodyguards.

They will have to prove that disability in fairness, a rise in disability payments will raise eyebrows

    Notorious Dundon-McCarthy gang split

    By Barry Duggan
    Friday July 31 2009

The Dundon- McCarthy gang has split -- following intense pressure and constant scrutiny by gardai and the Criminal Assets Bureau.

Gardai in Limerick are now on high alert after a former associate of the Dundon-McCarthy gang was told a contract has been put on his head.

The violent criminal, who distanced himself from the gang in recent weeks, has gone into hiding after he was informed of the threat against him.

It is understood he has an intimate knowledge of the workings of the gang whose leaders fear that information could be used against them.

    Pressure

The introduction of the Criminal Justice Act and new surveillance legislation has put increased pressure on the gang, which is led by London-based John Dundon.

It is also expected that CAB will move in the coming weeks to seize up to 20 properties across Limerick which are owned by the ruthless thugs.

"There is a lot of pressure on the gang now and some of those who would be regarded as senior associates are really worried about the new laws which could see them brought before the non-jury Special Criminal Court," said one garda source.

Members of the Dundon-McCarthy gang have been under constant scrutiny by gardai for the past year and it appears the extra pressure is breaking the gang apart.

    Video

A recent video posted on YouTube by gang members, including John Dundon and his brother Ger, brought increased heat on the gang. In the video, which has received thousands of hits, both men threaten Christy Keane of the rival Keane-Collopy gang, who was released from prison earlier this year after serving a lengthy sentence for drugs offences.

"That caused a lot of tension in the city and it was a stupid thing to do, especially given the current clampdown on gangland activity," said a source.

    Tough times.....

CRIME boss Wayne Dundon slipped back to Ireland for a gangland meeting with the notorious underworld figure Troy Jordan.

The pair, with two henchmen, were spotted at a rural boozer last week close to Jordan's home in Co Kildare.

The group of four sat outside the Barge Inn in Robertstown while two garda cars were parked nearby observing the gangland meet.

Meanwhile, prisons bosses went on high alert last week after it was learned the Limerick gangsters were planning a tiger-kidnap escape operation.

"The plan was to target a senior officer whose family would be held hostage until certain people were released from Limerick jail," a source told the Sunday World.

It is claimed that the McCarthy-Dundon gang had mocked up a bogus garda squad car as part of the plan to spring leading gang members from the lock up.

The would-be escape plan sparked an alert at Limerick jail this week.

"It's a real sign that the McCarthy Dundons are getting desperate. There's a lot of them in jail and they're going to be there for a while," the source added.

Last month, Dundon fled to the UK to escape the attentions of the gardai and the rising tensions with his own gangster associates.

"Wayne Dundon is broke and has been putting the squeeze on everyone to raise money," a source told the Sunday World.

It is being claimed in underworld circles that Wayne Dundon owes at least €50,000 to a Dublin drugs trafficker.

"He can't get anything moving because no-one wants to do business with him," a source told the Sunday World.

Wayne Dundon has been staying in Bristol since leaving Limerick last month.

However, last week he was seen by locals at the Co Kildare boozer with Troy Jordan.
The pub has since been shut. Troy Jordan is one of Ireland's most successful underworld operators, with connections all over the country.

His love of dog fighting and sulky racing has brought him into contact with underworld figures all over Ireland. The close-knit world of illegal dog-fighting is the gangland equivalent of the corporate golf event.

Jordan's outfit have long been known to supply the McCarthy-Dundons in Limerick with consignments of drugs. He also supplies their rival faction, the Keane-Collopys.

He is even said to have tried to persuade the feuding Limerick factions to stop fighting because it was affecting the drugs trade.

Dundon's move to the UK came in the face of constant garda pressure and a violent fall out with members of the Casey clan.

Behind bars the same tensions emerged with members of the McCarthy-Dundon gang brawling with each other amid demands for cash.

Two years the Sunday World revealed how threats of tiger-kidnap escape plot prompted changes in how prisoners are released.

At the team time jail bosses received intelligence that organised crime gangs a were plotting to kidnap a prison governor's family to force the release of jail gang members. It is thought they plotted to make it appear as if gardai were collecting prisoners for questioning or a court appearance.

Also last month John Dundon was moved out of Wheatfield Prison after he ordered a contract hit on a senior prison official. He admitted the chilling threat when confronted by jail bosses. In 2008 an officer at Wheatfield was threatened by one of the gang after ignoring a request to open a landing gate.

Guns were pointed at the officer as he drove home from work one night. Troy Jordan has also been feeling the pressure from the gardai and let lose a stream of foul-mouthed abuse when stopped by two cops. Jordan stuck his arm out his car's window and flexed his muscles as he spat: "See me arm you midget, that would break your f**king back."

The Ballyfermot native has connections with every major criminal gang in the country including the INLA. Jordan, who has a reputation as a violent thug, lives in remote part of north west Kildare.

His home at Allenwood South is not far from John Gilligan's old equestrian centre at Jessbrook.
    Battles

It emerged during Gilligan's legal battles with the Criminal Assets Bureau that Jordan rents fields at the property.

Jordan has described in court as self-employed" but has previously been in business with Martin 'the Viper' Foley running a debt collection agency.

Jordan was arrested in 2004 during a dog-fight at Allenwood along with 'Champagne Killer' Karl Breen. He is regarded as a key player in Ireland's drug trade and has been linked to a number of major seizures.

He has been well-known to the gardai since his teenage years.

Mc Love, could you edit your post to put a link to that article? It's best practice to include the reference so people can acknowledge where the story came from.

    Thanks.

word around the camp fire is that all organised crime in Galway is controlled by proxy by the Collopys
