Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,

After many years on the couch instead of the bike, spurred on by this years TDF, and after being called a Fat Bastad by my wife and kids, I have decided to take on my 30's spread and get back on the bike.

I have been looking at the beginners spins on here, usually with a wry smile as I open the thread to see its a run up the Sally Gap , or 100 km via the Wicklow Mountains . From now on I will only be on the lookout for couch potato spins!

Anyways, can anyone please recommend what they feel is the best Android GPS App for monitoring your performance whilst training on a bike.

    Many thanks,

    Inq

Cardiotrainer is a good training app.

    Yeah, I use Cardiotrainer too.
I tried Sportypal too - it's similar so it's more of a personal choice - I'd suggest giving em both a go!

Cardiotrainer too..... Google tracks is great and gives a bit more info on recorded route and has better graphs but cardiotrainer gives you a total on the phone for all your spins which is great. Also love the splits feature...

As an aside is there anything like the couch to 5k running plan out there that people can recommend for cycling. It would nice to have a bit more structure to what I am doing.

AlpineSport gets a good review on BikeRadar

    I saw this

in the paper last year and thought -"That's a bit like a couch to 5k for cyclists.".

    Might suit.

I use sports tracker. It has tones of features and as well as all your stats, will replay your spin on Google maps with realtime speeds.
