Partner is an EU citizen. She worked here 5 years and decided to take her maternity leave at her home in Germany and is returning to work in Ireland when its finished. I presume its ok to be out of the country for maternity leave?

Problem 1) I was abroad and missed two letters that had to be signed off by her and it looks like the payment may have been suspended.

Problem 2) The letters have 1890 numbers and these cant be phoned from abroad. She cant call them.

The letters have been signed off and posted back to the Irish employer to forward to the govt.

    Disqualification from Maternity Benefit

You can do voluntary work, public representative work (for example, a councillor or TD) and courses of education while you are getting Maternity Benefit. However, your payment will be stopped if you engage in insurable (paid) employment.
If you intend to return to employment earlier than you stated on your application form, you must notify Maternity Benefit Section at least 2 weeks before your new 'return to work date'.
If you are from an EU country, you can get Maternity Benefit for any period of your maternity leave spent in another EU country. You cannot receive payment if you are living outside the EU. If you are not an EU citizen you will only get Maternity Benefit as long as you remain in Ireland

That fine then, she is still is Europe. Her employer is fine as well. We can get it sorted out.

The previous summers were so bad here in Ireland she wanted to spend them back at her country with her people.

You can call them directly on (01) 471 5898. I always find I get through to this number much quicker than the 1890 one!
