In terms of getting a job.

Take a business graduate for instance.

For business i would have to say that canada (Vancouver especially) is o.k i know of a recent graduate of marketing who has migrated there and is loving it.Close to Canada the US isn't doing great for business, but from what i hear less popular (and in my opinion far better) states like West Virginia, Minnesota, North and South Dakota ,Wisconsin , Oregeon and North and Aouth Carolina are faring O.K for large enough corporations and firms. Austrailia is always a safe bet espescially Perth and Melbourne the destination for many graduates and tradesmen. If you were to go totally wild ,i would suggest China or a company affiliated with a Chinese company as the chinese economy is set to overtake the US' and the UK's by 2012 i think.
However for sciences and engineering i heard that Dubai is thriving, i know of four lads who have completed cousres in C.I.T ,U.C.C, L.I.T and D.I.T respectivley and who are all heading off to Dubai some for a year some for more.
I heard that for medical graduate Canada and the US offer vast oppurtunities.
I hope that this helps, it's a big decision to make.

I'm staying over in Vancouver myself. Based on temp jobs where I worked, it will be very difficult for you if you're a marketing graduate, or indeed any other service-oriented graduate. There isn't such a demand for these professions, as a lot of business services are subcontracted to consultants or small companies. Realistically speaking, the supply of outstanding business/marketing/services graduates over there just about meets demand, so you really have to be careful when it comes judging whether you can make it over there.

There isn't such a large amount of marketing work in Vancouver. However, the standard of promotion, advertising and journalism is actually worse than in Ireland.

Before you say that you can go to Vancouver all the way from Ireland and improve the marketing or business environment, you have to consider that Vancouver is a vastly multicultural place, where standard business practises that you have been taught in Ireland or any other business school will not work. Some cultures have their own way of doing business and some things that you may propose actually might not wash with them.

In recruitment agencies, there isn't such a large number of people working in Vancouver as there is in Ireland, even if the turnover of human capital is far greater in Vancouver.

However, if you really want to make it big in Van City, you need to have a following list of skills: 1.) a trades background and also an education in engineering, so that you can calibrate machinery on a regular basis in a large specialised manufacturing or distribution facility; 2.) A graduate in business studies who also has a knowledge of cultural studies, so that you can understand that some cultures have values which oppose standard practises.

That's all the advice I can offer, but if you want more insights on Vancouver, please PM me.
