Hmm i dont know about that one, but they were insistent on me providing it. Maybe if you buy online you have to call into them at some stage to give them proof of address/ID?

Yes. The 3 rep I spoke to said the flex plan was replacing the relax plan.

Was about to have hissyfit, called Meteor about cancelling my bill pay smart lite and moving to prepay, she said I'd have to call tomorrow and wait 30 days, but then I remembered Meteor changed the terms of contract so I can get out straight away now.....right? I know, probably wrong place to ask, but I really don't want to register at the meteor forums...

On your name and address.

If you walk into the shop to get a phone, they've no idea, without proof, if you are who you claim to be or live where you claim to live. I could walk in, give your name and address, and walk out with a subsidised phone. Nobody would be any the wiser until you got the first bill.

Ordering by phone or web they will have your credit card details (traceable) and the delivery address for the phone, where it will be signed for.

As far as I know the credit check is almost worthless. They can pretty much only check that you don't already owe them money, and that the card you've given them is valid. It's not like getting a mortgage.

I GOT AN EMAIL FROM 3 EARLIER SAYING RING IN AND SEE IF I'M DUE AN UPGRADE.(Excuse caps lock). I'm with them all of a month, so no chance, but i'll ring anyway. He says yes, I can get an upgrade, price as on 3's website. BUT, I got a 25% discount for porting over. Yes, I'll still get that they told me.
I told him I found it hard to believe, and he said to call back at 12.01, ask them the question straight out. As far as he is concerned, I am a-ok. He said they will even put the cost of the iPhone on my next bill rather than looking fo rbank details, CC etc.

Sounds too good to be true?

Yes, sign up for 18 months, which I don't mind. 25% discount on my monthly package which is Relax 350, doubled. Trouble is, I was actually given 50% discount on my first bill, and 700 flexi-units!!! Even the guy on the phone was thinking that was too good to pass up, but I may be back to €36 p/m(25%) next month for all I know, the 50% may have been a mistake. But with tethering included, and 2GB data, plus free landline calls, I'm very, very tempted. The 25% is only for 6 months anyway. He was adamant I was still entitled to it.

Ordered it by phone, the guy said it would be delivered Saturday....any chance of this? I don't think anyone delivers Saturday.....and they dropped the price by a tenner it seems, nice one.

I would think that most of 3's stock is in their stores... No point having queues outside stores with photographers for the papers taking pics of punters rioting at 12.05 because the store sold their 5 phones.

Any ideas when this will be delivered?

Just got an upgrade online €179 on the €40 plan. Way better than i ever expected. Was torn between Vodafone and 3 but the price of phone did it. Happy days

Guess it'll be Tue before delivered.

The downfall of being on Best Of Both, cant do an online "upgrade". Have to call them, of which I am on my second call, after being disconnected the first time after 20 mins. :rolleyes:

Just got a call from an English number with a lot of 3's in it, but they hung up before MC Hammer could even say "Can't touch this"....Google says it's 3 customer service...confirming the number perhaps?

this all seems like another ipad-like non event. i just got 2 on 3's website and went back in for another one for the craic and it gave me the option to buy.

my guess is that they have loads of stock to cover demand or else they are taking orders for the hell of it and will fulfill at a later date (that would seem odd though).

i ordered it on three.ie

I got an email confirming my order right after I finished on the phone, and then 24 minutes later an email confirming it's been sent to warehouse peoples. Can't imagine there being much of a difference in turn around time.

Haha, just waiting to get the "oh, we've just run out of 32gb ones now, do you want a 16gb one?", when I do finally get through.
