i.e., not much more than 16 sales per hour
luckily was in the top 40 people who had pre-registered in store earlier on Thursday
they were still busy selling when i escaped just before 2pm

Noticed this in the order confirmation email:

"Important - your device can only be delivered to you in person at the address specified above and you will need to show the courier the payment card you used to place your order as proof of identity."

Seems a bit odd - not a big deal, but having to hang around the house all day is a bit of a pain. So, does anybody have any idea which courier they're using to deliver and which day?

anyone know if you've to do anything special to enable 3g on the iphone?
Notice in my carriers it was set by default to 3 with a further option of 3 (3g) not selected.
Tried both but cannot get online :(
Anyway I've to go back into the 3 store today to get my old number transferred over and sort out the insurance.

Strange, thought it would work out of the box. Have you tried plugging it in, opening iTunes and pressing update? You might get Three's carrier settings update if it isn't installed already (has settings for MMS, APN's etc.) - might be worth a try.

yeah...I got the updated carrier settings last night..however it's only since this morning was I actually able to make calls on it as well...prob 3 forgot to do something :)
it's not a biggie as like I said I have to call in anyway and get a new sim with my old number...if I had to update everyone in my contacts with my new number my flex units would be all gone for the month :D

Mine changed to approved around 2am last night, have to ring them now though as the address seems to be wrong. Anyone else's address change ?

Three cancelled my order, but I called in and they were very helpful. Agreed it it was very strange because I've been a bill pay customer with them for mobile broadband for many years, and match all their criteria... Also had been a bill pay phone customer with them in the past as well. They're going to call me back and are confident they can sort it out.

How many people will panic now seeing this? ha. How did you find out it was cancelled?

I live in Ballinamore, Co. Leirim but both the billing address and shipping address are for a place in carrick-on-shannon Co. Leitrim which is about 20 miles from me. I definitely filled in the right address when I was at it.

Yeah seen that too. I'm off next tuesday but wont be at the house and back to work wednesday. Wonder if they'd just deliver it to the local 3 store and we could pick it up there if you werent at the house.

I got an email, but you can also log in on their website to check your status. Only reason I can think of that it was cancelled is that I was rushing to fill out the forms and had my order in 2 minutes after midnight. Anyway, they will - touch wood - be able to sort it out. Otherwise, I'm stuck with o2.

By the way, the phones will all be delivered on Saturday.

That would be quite useful. Maybe the next working day thing was to cover themselves. Or maybe it depends on the location?

Rang them up there and asked when they are being delivered. Said Saturday :)

Hope so as well mate. Can't stand the thought of another 18 months with o2.

They told me on the phone they have a special agreement to deliver all their iPhone orders with their courier company on Saturday.

Got though to upgrade dept this morning at 8am. Really nice lady called Shan apologised for all the messing and wrong info given last night. Yes,I can get an iPhone, still in stock. 32Gb, €319 on the €40p/m. Yes, can still get my 25% discount....then I bloody managed to hang up.....what a tool!!!!!!

Got back to another really helpful fella called Ben, who put through the order, but he did say it would be given to the courier on Tuesday and wasn't sure about delivery after that. They will just put the cost of the phone on next months bill so in the end, it became rather painless......:P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,225 ✭✭✭Chardee MacDennis

So what's the chances of stock left at lunch time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,904 ✭✭✭cian1500ww

Rang three about the wrong address in my order, got it changed, said it'd be delivered Tuesday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 171 ✭✭j_lennon18

I wasnt sure last night but now I just ordered the 32gb version from 3 :D

I'm going to ask for Tuesday off work in-case it doesn't get delivered tomorrow as some people mentioned it might.

I still havent got email yet tho (20mins)...

ordered 2 phones last night online without any hitches it seems. shortly after got the confirmation email. then missed a call from 3 at 2am. message was that "we cannot process your order etc...please ring this number". then this morning rang the number and then they tell me they won't discuss it over the phone with me!?!! why did they ask me to ring only to tell me i shouldn't have rang?!

then got an email this morning saying that i have to write to credit referrals. no phone number, no proper address, just a PO box to write a snail mail to. i spend over 1500 a year on calls and have been with O2 for 11 years. i've hardly failed a credit check. this is ridiculous.

anyone got any ideas or anyone here from 3 that can help me? i was happy to switch to 3 but they are making it bloody hard to justify the switch.

I got exactly the same story as you m8.
Have no credit problems or never had, and been a Vodafone customer without a hitch for at least 10 years, got the exact same email as you. Rang them up and nobody to speak to, only "send a letter by snail mail blah blah.

Have just tried putting the order in all over again. Will see what happens this time.

    Ok Update.

Got a call from 3, they don't accept a "business credit card" paying for a "consumer product"
    Weird !

I just got a call of a nice Indian lady and my order with 3 went through smoothly :D

Christ on a bike that was an ordeal.

Was on hold for 61 minutes from midnight (two calls, first call cut off at 12.20) only to be told that as an existing customer (of almost 5 years) a 16Gb phone on the €40 plan would be €369 not the advertised €209. They tried to stick the Mrs for €299.

I was already cranky from being awake and on hold for so long so the poor girl ended up getting my full wrath but still couldn't do anything, only 4 of them in, no supervisor.

So after 45 mins on hold this morning I finally got it for €209 without any fuss, as did the Mrs.

They are still getting a letter of complaint from me over the whole debacle.

Question for you guys, if you got the text add on or calls add on, which is used first? I mean, is the add-on used after your flexi-units run out or straight away? So if I got 100 texts as an add on would my first 100 txt messages come out of that or flexi-units?

My order got rejected even though I've been a 3 bill pay customer for the past 4 or 5 years (mobile broadband and in the past bill phone).

Just got word back, they couldn't find out what's going wrong and can't fix it... they had told me they'd call me back and are confident they may be able to make it go through. Their advice now is to keep trying to order iPhone 4 from time to time until it's accepted. So I asked them to cancel my existing contracts with them, which are averaging €1000 a year for mobile broadband... after all, if they don't want my business, why should I work to get them to accept my money? Vodafone will sell me an iPhone 4 with no bother at all.

What was their response to you requesting to cancel? Did they offer any incentive. Bit of a poor show when they couldn't do anything.

It's more their loss than my loss, so I wouldn't go as far as saying it's a poor show. Just crazy that they're sending business to Vodafone. For what it's worth, customer options told me it got denied due to a glitch in the system and I got transferred back and fourth several time. Customer options says it's a glitch, sales says it isn't a glitch and they don't know.

Bad news for me too :(
After taking the time to pre register in the store the other day, ringing to double check I had an upgrade available, and mobilising myself and the two kids to go down and collect my phone, when I got there they said there was no upgrade on the system. AAARGH!
They rang for me and confirmed that I was due an upgrade but because it wasn't on their system in the shop, they couldn't process the sale. Been waiting about half an hour now to get through to the upgrade dept. to try and order by phone. If this doesn't get sorted this morning I'll take the easy option and switch carriers.

Edit: Finally! If I ever hear that feckin' Extreme song again I'll cry.
Guy sorted the order for me but said it could be 10 working days before the phone is delivered ffs.

    Saying "I love you"
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew how easy
It would be to show me how you feel

    More than words
Is all -- please hold, we will be with you shortly --
    'Cause I'd already know

What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real

What would you say -- *silence*
    ...
    :D
    ...
    ...
    ...

    ...

What about this talk about Saturday delivery? Some people were told that on the phone. I rang up this morning then and said I ordered the phone last night and have they any idea as to when it will be delivered and guy on the phone said Saturday. Mail said next working day (Mon-Fri), I assume everyone's mail said that.

Saturday I'd find hard to believe, I deal with a lot of different couriers and Saturday is only possible if the shipper pays an extra cost on the shipping. I guess it's possible but I was told Tuesday but then again I think this guy wasn't meant to deal with orders as he asked me 3 times when I rang first for a phone or account number which I didn't have as I'm a new customer. We'll know once we get a shipping tracking number anyway.

yes, same here. i tried to use a business laser card for the order and it didn't like it. decided to actually go in and talk to a human in a 3 store and they were extremely helpful to me and sorted me out with both phones and they gave me a workaround to getting the phones on the business a/c without having to go through 3's business sales desk.

they had a reasonable amount of stock by the way (dundrum) and they are moving phones around to different shops based on demand.

moral of the story is, go to a shop, talk to a human. much much much less frustrating.

Bought one on henry street around half ten. How long does it take for the number to switch over?

If you're getting one make sure you bring a passport or driving license, I brought a garda age card and learned the hard way.
