Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

Does anyone know of a simple, free program to do floor
    plan designs on?

    Just something simple and free?

    Thanks
    Barney

Oh, I tried Google Sketch-up, it's far too 3-D and complicated for little
    old me! :)

Just something to do floor plans, like basic architect's drawings.

Thanks for the post though, and cool MegaMan Icon in your profile.

Reminds me of the NES days! Now I'm showing my age too! :)

There are a number of free AutoCad clones out there. Doesn't have all the functionality but should for what you are after.

TurboCAD was one i tried before, don't know if it was free or a trial though.

Thanks for the links guys, but they're all a bit too
complex, mostly for Interior Decorator types.

I just want a basic line drawing with door swings and the like.

I had a good look around last night online, and was disappointed,
a lot of over complex or very expensive programs out there.

I'm going to post in another computer forum I use and I'll post up if
    I get a good program.

    Thanks again for the input.

Just an update on my quest to find a program to make simple
    floor plans.

In the end I decided to go with Word. Using the drawing toolbar
I can make a pretty good floor plan to suit my needs.

I can also share the plans easily, as any of the planning
programs I tried use their own file formats, and you often
had to pay extra to export to an Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF
    file or JPEG picture file.

All the software I tried took too long to learn how to use,
I'm not saying that these programs were not good, it's
just that they were too complicated and you'd
need to spend a few hours learning how to use the properly.

If you are going to use Word for drawing plans or diagrams,
one tip I can share is to turn on the grid lines and snap to grid
functions in Word on the drawing toolbar. This lets you
    line up the object nicely.

Thanks for all the posts guys.
