Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Microsoft Office Word 2007 - Equations

Hi, (hope this is in right topic)

I have been using Microsoft equation for years to type maths notes for a teacher. Since I have a new laptop, I now have the new Word 2007 Equation, which I can find my way around except for one major thing.

    I want to write a Sigma notation " U1 + U2 + U3 ... = n∑Ur " , (and above the Sigma symbol have a small n and below Sigma have r = 1.)

However in this new version of Word, it puts these two lines, (I want to put above and below the symbol), to the right side of Sigma (and before the Ur.)

When I select the 'Change to Display' option, it puts this equation layout correctly, with the letters above & below Sigma. But I cannot align it to the previous line of text which is "U1 + U2 + U3... Word puts this equation on a line of its own. When I try to bring it back to the end of U1 + U2 + U3 ... where it should sit, it reverts to how it was before, with the letters to the side of Sigma, instead of above and below.

I am really stuck on this one and would appreciate any help / tuition links to follow.

    Thanks,

    Aoife
