High Street (proper noun) is so-called because there used to be a High Cross there. "high street" (common noun) is a uniquely British term for what we call the 'main street'.

How about Sráid ard. and we put it up beside Jonnie Fox's for all the tourists to annoy the golfers

It would be better than the statue around Grafton Street to that drug addict. But political correctness - the drug addict had a darker skin colour - triumphed over a greater voice, illegal drugs triumphed over legal drugs (I surmise/assume Luke was an alco?).
Thin Lizzy had a more illustrious international career than the Dubliners; Lynott is a more recognisable figure around the world and his statue deserves its place off Grafton Street.

What has either mans' drug addiction got to do with anything, anyway?

Their substance abuse does not diminish the quality of their work, and their work is ultimitely what they should be and will be remembered for. Blame the media for highlighting the artists' personal demons.

Whether you like it or not, music and drugs are inexctricably linked, and you can probably bin half your record collection if you don't want to accept this.
