Could you provide an alternative to this, its needed to connect up to a speaker system in a shop. We currently have a similar model but the radio reception is terrible and the CD player doesn't work. Would it be possible to get a DAB type radio with CD, or is there any way to improve the radio reception? I don't really know anything about this kind of thing but I've been put in charge of finding a replacement.

    Thanks.

    Pricewatch -

Oh dear - that's a nasty looking piece of kit!

Can I ask you a couple of questions 1st:

    How big is your shop?
How many speakers do you need to drive?
Do you know if your speakers (if you have them already) are 100v line models (if you don't know don't worry)
Do you know what the make & model of your existing unit is?

I have a couple of options in mind that may suit you depending on your feedback..

Thanks again and I'll look out for your post,

    ATB,

    How big is your shop?
    About 125 square metres

How many speakers do you need to drive?
    There are 4 speakers

Do you know if your speakers (if you have them already) are 100v line models (if you don't know don't worry)
It says COM 100V where the wire for speakers goes into the back. Just 1 set of wires for the 4 speakers.

Do you know what the make & model of your existing unit is?
    Adastra PA512ORD

    Thanks for your help

    Price,

thanks again and apologies for giving you all the work!

I have a unit from Jadia that is a much better unit than either of the Adastra units. This unit has a CD Drive and radio included (but it's not a DAB unit / VHF only) you can also input other devices such as a DAB radio if you like using the other inputs - I can do this unit at £249.95 and this is less than 1/2 price and this is a pretty serious unit.

However if it was me - I would get rid of all the 100V line stuff - this is a technology frequently used for commercial applications however the quality is really poor.

I would replace the speakers with proper speakers (I presume the speakers are in-ceiling?) and buy a decent proper receiver - something like the TEAC AG980 This again is FM Radio only but it is a really high quality receiver, especially when compared to the 100V line kit you have at the moment and it will catually drive up to 8 speakers & it also has the facility for separate zones playing different things.

If you went for the TEAC AG980 and wanted to add 4 good quality in-ceiling speakers such as the OPUS OS165 we could do the complete kit at just £319.95 (Retail price should be £449.85) and I can promise you this will give you radically better audio quality - if you wanted to add a CD player we have a matching 5 disc unit at just £149.95 again from Teac but I would recommend that you get your audio content onto an MP3 player which will prove much more stable (or your PC of course - you probably have one in the shop already and you can just patch it straight into the Amplifier/Receiver)

Thanks again and keep me posted if any of these are interesting or if we can assist in any other way,

    Thanks again,
