Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As much as I hate to burst everyone's bubble, it is Juventus, so Rovers have to be careful they don't get the Bohs treatment ;)

Anyone know the Juventus team yet?

Is it not ironic you saying they don't get the Bohs treatment aka being hammered by a weaker team away, when Liverpool are playing the mighty Fc Rabotnicki of Macedonia away.:D

In fairness a 4-0 loss against Juve is 100x more respectable than a 4-0 loss v TNS.

It's a very depleted Juve team by all accounts, Buffon is out and Trezegeut left training last night with an ice-pack on his knee.

Would it be fair to say that this is the biggest European Tie that Irish soil has seen in the past 20 years ?

Obviously Shelbourne had more at stake when the took on Deportivo La Coruna in the Champions League, as did Bohs when they took on Kaiserslautern in the first round proper of the UEFA Cup. However, this is a major chance for Shamrock Rovers to reassert themselves on the map of European Football by credibly putting it up to the likes of Iaquinta, Del Piero, Camoranesi, Trezeguet, Grosso etc. I dont think as BIG a team as Juventus has been here in recent years, and the glamour is beyond belief.

As long as Rovers give an Honest Account of themselves, get stuck in, try and compete for every ball and don't give Juventus too much respect then they have every chance of closing out a draw.

Juve's expected line-up from the Gazzetta.

Storari, De Ceglie, Chiellini, Bonucci, Motta, Pepe, Marchisio, Sissoko, Lanzafame, Diego behind Amauri.

Surprised Del Piero isn't playing, then again they may be thinking they can rest a few.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭syngindub

ah ok, the line ups not available yet..so del boy could be starting. In one way it would be good for the fans to see him playing, on the other hand ....

true i suppose but he still has a class touch and very dangerous.
Is Rovers sub keeper any relation to his name sake?

A little disappointed that Juventus have fielded a weakened team, I supoose it's to be expected.

Rovers need to starting stringing a few passes together. Hoofing the ball up top every chance they get. get the ball down and pass to one of your players...cmon

Thats the way MON plays, not gonna change it now.

Jaysus some dodgy passing at the back there from Rovers.

    Could have cost them.

Nothing wrong with changing tactics for big european nights !!

Rovers giving them way too much space and showing them too much respect some might say. Nothing is gonna come from launchin it to Twigg at every opportunity!

Your obviously not a regular supporter... Rovers have a good midfield but MON never changes the way he plays. It works to an extent but it means losing possession too much, which can be suicide against the top teams in Europe.

They need to close down more. Juventus are just knocking it about for fun really.

Indeed, they need to get in harder, let them know their there. start winning the 50/50 balls.

They're doing better now anyway. Need to keep it up though.

In fairness, Juve are giving Rovers no space whatsoever, so passing to feet means Rovers have a good chance of losing the ball.

Juventus look absurdly comfortable. They can win this by however many they fancy tbh.
