I was doing some screen scraping in a client side java app and wanted to get a session ID generated and stored from the browser as a cookie. Alot of google hits are for webserver side servlets or browser delivered applets. There is a httpcookie object, but I think the scope of that is just within the java app not giving access to system browser cookies right?

Not entirely sure what your question is, but the cookie is available in the header of the HTTP response (unless it's set by Javascript) and so should be easy to scrape.
